WWE RAW: 5 major things that can happen on the Rusev-Lana divorce court segment

It's all over!
It's all over!

The "tragedy" has struck. Tonight on Monday Night RAW, we will officially see the divorce of Rusev and Lana on screen. It's been a few years and they've been a fan-favorite couple for a long time, especially during Rusev's height of the "Rusev Day" run along with Aiden English.

It was initially announced as a "King's divorce court" segment featuring Jerry Lawler, but it hasn't been advertised as that recently. Either way, Lawler's presence isn't necessarily important. We're going to be in for a segment that many fans hope will result in Rusev vs Bobby Lashley at TLC 2019 and subsequently, the end of the feud as well.

However, WWE has gone all guns blazing with this storyline and due to the high numbers it's been getting on TV, YouTube, and social media, there's no doubt that they're going to try and have a swerve or two in the coming segment. Here are a few major things that can happen.

#5. Another major arrest takes place

Last week's episode of RAW saw Rusev and Bobby Lashley get into it with yet another brawl. Rusev was supposed to be arrested as Lana had filed a restraining order against him, but in a big twist, Rusev got away while Lashley and Lana got arrested.

That was predicted and tonight, we could see something even crazier and yet another arrest. While some would argue that it would be repetitive and unoriginal, it would certainly follow a level of consistency in the storyline.

It would be good if all three of them were arrested and it led to a crazy brawl backstage or force the locker room to separate the two. Then again, they aren't big enough stars for the entire locker room to come out and stop them. (Though it did happen to Lashley when he feuded with Roman Reigns last year).

#4. The divorce doesn't go through because of a brawl

There have been quite a few brawls so far, but this could be the biggest one yet. As we know in WWE, there's always a problem when there's a table, a piece of paper to be signed and two or more superstars in the ring.

With contract signings, it always leads to a big fight at the end, with it being very rare that there's no physicality involved at the end of it. (With John Cena and AJ Styles being one such example of that in 2016).

We expect this to be no different and after a (cringe) war of words is exchanged between the two soon-to-be ex-spouses, there will undoubtedly be a brawl between Rusev and Bobby Lashley. This leaves one problem - the divorce won't officially go through.

However, it also leaves the door open to the storyline again, which may not end as quickly as we think and that's for a very specific reason.

#3. Bobby Lashley gets written off and we don't get a TLC match

The reason why we said that the feud probably won't end this coming Sunday is that Bobby Lashley is rumored to have suffered an arm injury recently, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.

It's not known when he suffered it, but it was likely during a recent live event or a niggling injury that simply worsened. It's common for WWE superstars to work through an injury and there are times when the injury gets worsened by a bump.

As a result of this, Lashley may not be medically cleared to compete at TLC and if that's the case, he'll have to be written off TV. All it takes for that to happen is for him to be beaten down brutally by Rusev and subsequently written out until some point early next year.

We hope this isn't the case but WON has had a good track record recently with injuries and he'll either have to work through it until Sunday or he'll have to be written off and for the story to continue once he returns. Either way, we hope for the best.

#2. Lashley stands tall after the divorce is official

This is a likely scenario if the match ends up going through and is announced for TLC. The segment should be a double-signing for Rusev, having to sign for his divorce as well as a TLC match against Bobby Lashley.

If that is the case, it's hard to imagine Rusev standing tall. For one, it's the go-home show, which means that the loser of the blowoff match usually stands tall. It's wrestling 101. There's no way that the payoff involves Lashley winning unless they plan to extend the storyline until a later point, i.e, the end of the year or Royal Rumble 2020.

Secondly, Rusev's popularity has surged since this storyline, no matter whether you love it or hate it. The numbers prove otherwise and Tom Colohue even reported that Rusev has gotten a lot of praise from Vince McMahon for this storyline and the favorable reactions it's produced.

WWE listens to these reactions and when the numbers back it up, they will continue the story. Either way, expect the divorce to go through and for Lashley to stand tall with Lana at the end of it.

#1. Rusev turns heel and aligns with Lana

There could be one last twist left in this storyline. There's essentially one major twist that WWE can pull off and that would be to turn Rusev heel and re-align with Lana at the end of it. It would undoubtedly get Lana some major heat, similar to Lita in 2005 at her peak heel status.

Meanwhile, it would turn Bobby Lashley face for the first time in ages and while it's not a twist that we particularly hope for, it's one that's not out of the realm of possibilities. It would also be the most logical (yet illogical at the same time) swerve and would likely get Rusev mega-heat, particularly given the babyface momentum he's had recently.

With that said, we're not sure it's the right swerve to pull, but if they're planning on writing Lashley out of the storyline, then it would probably make sense to have Rusev and Lana re-align again. But the big question is what it would do to the momentum that The Bulgarian Brute currently has as a face.
