The Season Premiere of WWE RAW is guaranteed to be a very special show and because of this reason, it could be filled with surprises. Here is a glimpse of all the swerves that could potentially play out on WWE RAW, to set the pace for the upcoming season.
Mind you, this article is not based on inside knowledge or rumors, and a majority of these surprises may not even happen on WWE RAW. That said, if they do, they could certainly get people talking and get a lot of lapsed fans invested into the product once again, because the main reason people watch 'scripted entertainment' is for the twists and turns.
So, with that said, the Season Premiere of WWE RAW could have the following surprises.
#5 Asuka defeats Lana to retain the WWE RAW Women's Championship, only to be confronted by Charlotte Flair
Many feel like the Asuka vs. Lana match for the WWE RAW Women's Championship is likely to be a squash, especially judging from how Lana has been booked on the WWE RAW brand over the last few weeks. Asuka is very likely to defeat Lana in no time and all, and then brandish her WWE RAW Women's Championship, proclaiming to all who would listen that nobody is ready for Asuka. This could be the cue for Charlotte Flair to step out.
Charlotte Flair and Asuka have a readymade history and we know for a fact that Charlotte Flair will be a part of the WWE RAW brand in the weeks and months that follow. In the same manner, as Sasha Banks and Bayley, Asuka and Charlotte Flair could elevate the WWE RAW Women's Championship with a series of hard-hitting and fast-paced, and highly memorable matches.
4 Ricochet did not join The Hurt Business on WWE RAW last week, but could he join RETRIBUTION?
There was a big match between Ricochet and Cedric Alexander on WWE RAW last week with the stipulation that if Ricochet loses the match, he joins The Hurt Business as a member of the faction. But if Ricochet wins (as he eventually did last week on WWE RAW), The Hurt Business would leave him alone for the time being.
In fact, if you did not catch the fantastic Eddie Guerrero tribute on WWE RAW last week, you should go back and watch the match because it was absolutely hilarious indeed.
But we know that Ricochet and Mustafa Ali have been friendly on WWE RAW, in the past, and the latter could make an offer to Ricochet for him to become a part of RETRIBUTION.
The group needs a second leader beyond the hulks and monsters from NXT, and there's none better than Ricochet to join the pack on WWE RAW, in retaliation for being overlooked despite all his talents.
#3 Tucker from Heavy Machinery becomes the WWE 24/7 Champion as he arrives at WWE RAW this week
Many believe that the Seth Rollins vs. Rey Mysterio feud has lasted forever on WWE RAW and were upset that it's all set to continue on SmackDown too. At the same time, the R-Truth vs. Tozawa feud for the 24/7 Championship has lasted almost as long, and while it is entertaining in parts, it may be necessary for someone else from the WWE RAW roster to enter the title picture as well.
While on SmackDown, Tucker, who can be just as funny as Otis when he wants to, was overshadowed by his tag team partner, and Tucker could certainly find his niche on WWE RAW in the 24/7 Championship picture. And even R-Truth could mix it up with Tucker for a few months on WWE RAW, with others joining in when they actually want to.
It will also be interesting to see how Tucker and Mandy Rose interact, now that they are both on WWE RAW at the very same time.
#2 The Lana vs. Asuka title match for the WWE RAW Women's Championship is interrupted by Alexa Bliss
The Lana vs. Asuka contest is one of those matches on WWE RAW where the outcome is so very obvious. There is no way that Lana, who has come a long way in terms of in-ring work since she started, dethrones Asuka and becomes the WWE RAW Women's Champion. And so, it could see the start of a massive new feud for the WWE RAW Women's Championship.
During the course of the match, the lights could go out and when they are aglow again, Alexa Bliss could return to attack Asuka this time, kickstarting a feud for the WWE RAW Women's Championship that stretches all the way to the Royal Rumble.
Alexa Bliss in her current incarnation seems to be a very different Bliss from any point in her career, and a character-driven storyline with Asuka is not something we've seen thus far. Will the WWE RAW Women's Champion be able to overcome Alexa Bliss's mind games?
#1 Bray Wyatt names Randy Orton as his first WWE RAW target
The Fiend has two objectives in mind when he targets an opponent- either to hurt or heal him. Now that Bray Wyatt is officially a part of the WWE RAW roster, we could potentially see him targeting Randy Orton, someone who was once a part of the Wyatt Family. And whilst in the Wyatt Family, Randy Orton used the opportunity to get close to Bray Wyatt and then burn his compound down. All of it could be announced on the special edition of the Firefly Fun House that has been announced for WWE RAW this week.
As we can see from this Tweet, Bray Wyatt hasn't forgotten what Randy Orton did to him. And the same could be said of the Tweet below as well, don't you think?
When Sportskeeda interviewed WWE RAW Randy Orton, he said that the two men don't necessarily have the best chemistry when working together.
That said, Randy Orton and Bray Wyatt have great chemistry and could certainly light the world on fire.
