The second night of the WWE draft takes place tonight. Let's hope that they have a few more surprises up their sleeves tonight that they did last Friday. A number of big names are set to be on the draft list tonight including Seth Rollins, Brock Lesnar, and Daniel Bryan.
We could have a popular faction splitting up tonight as well as a popular tag team. We could also see a former WWE Champion move over to the red brand for the first time since his return.
#5 The New Day split up
The New Day are one of the most successful tag-teams in the modern era of WWE. The trio have been Tag Team Champions six times and have been one of the most popular acts in WWE for a while now. However, it may now finally be time for the New Day to go their separate ways and it could happen as soon as tonight on RAW during the draft.
The New Day have been one of the most popular factions in WWE for the last few years but going into tonight’s WWE Draft, there’s a real danger that the trio might finally be split up. If this does come to fruition, the probable reason behind this would depend on whether WWE want to continue to push Kofi Kingston as a singles star.
If that is indeed the case, we could see Kofi Kingston moving to RAW in the WWE Draft with Big E and Xavier Woods staying on the Blue brand or even vice versa. It will definitely be a sad moment if the New Day split up tonight and probably the wrong decision at this point in time. However, it could give Kofi Kingston a chance to continue his run as a top singles star.
#4 Booker T becomes the Street Profits’ manager
The Street Profits have been on the main roster for a while now and have inexplicably not wrestled yet. We don’t know what the hold up is but Montez Ford and Angelo Dawkins are a talented duo and WWE need to do something with them before fans lose interest in them thanks to the strange backstage segments.
One way to do this to give them a manager for their in-ring debut and who would be better than WWE Hall of Famer Booker T. The WWE Hall of Famer has already spoken publicly about his interest in managing the Street Profits and acting as the mentor.
He spoke about managing the Street Profits on his Hall of Fame podcast:
“I’m thinking about putting my name in to manage the Street Profits, bring these guys to the next level. Just put a little bit more street on them, that’s all. It’d be no playing, no jiving, just business.”
If WWE do decide to go with this, it would be a great way to give the pair some initial cred with fans who may not have been familiar with their run in NXT.
#3 Fire and Desire go to separate brands
Although Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville are a great tag team, their personalities are actually opposites of one another and we’ve seen increasing friction between the two in recent weeks. Mandy has been the reason the duo have lost matches recently and her self-obsession may be getting to Deville in the storyline.
We have long known that Vince McMahon is an ardent admirer of Mandy Rose and he sees her as someone who could become a top star. She has also come a long way in the ring since her main roster debut and the time seems right for her to be given a shot as a singles star.
With SmackDown on FOX set to be a more sports-oriented show, WWE could keep Sonya Deville on Friday nights while they move Mandy over to RAW. Rose would get a fresh set of opponents on RAW and she could even become someone who challenges Becky Lynch for the WWE RAW Women's Championship.
#2 Daniel Bryan moves to RAW and challenges Seth Rollins for the Universal Championship
One of the big names on the draft list for tonight is former WWE Champion Daniel Bryan. Bryan has been on SmackDown since he came out of retirement and it's time for him to move to RAW. A move to the Red brand would give Bryan a number of fresh opponents from the likes of AJ Styles, Drew McIntyre, and Ricochet, to the WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins.
With Rollins looking like he will need an opponent for WWE Survivor Series, Bryan could even come in and challenge Rollins for the title straight away. The duo are definitely going to be great in the ring together and Bryan could help Rollins get over with fans after a few stumbles in recent months which have seen his popularity decline. What happened with Bray Wyatt at Hell In A Cell certainly didn’t help either although the finish was not in Rollins’ hands.
#1 John Morrison returns to WWE and gets drafted to RAW
PWInsider revealed recently that John Morrison had agreed to a contract to return to WWE. The former Johnny Impact and Johnny Mundo is a seasoned veteran and was a popular star in WWE before finding success in Lucha Underground and Impact Wrestling in the last few years.
Most fans will have fond memories of Morrison who started off as a tag team star, winning the tag team titles with Johny Mercury (and later on The Miz), before finding success as an individual competitor. Morrison is a former WWE Intercontinental Champion as well as ECW World Champion.
With Morrison’s return to the company seemingly pending, the best time for him to return would be tonight on RAW. With SmackDown on FOX being more sports-oriented, it would make more sense for Morrison to get drafted to the Red brand on Monday nights. Morrison would instantly slot in as an upper mid-carder and would help get younger stars over along the way.
