By the time you are reading this, it may or may not be 2020, but still Happy New Year! Here's hoping that everyone has a great year ahead!

Now, let's get to business. WWE have literally have no off days and that is what keeps us going as well.

In today's roundup, we take a look at the WWE legend who was almost knocked out by Mark Henry at a party, what Rusev told Lana after the show went off the air, Vince McMahon's 'genuine pain' when WWE fans rejected his gimmick idea and more!

But before we get to that, it's time to check out the two big headline-makers of the day!

Huge plans for Lars Sullivan canceled

Lars Sullivan's time on the WWE main roster has not gone according to plan. He was getting a massive push when he got injured and had to be sidelined. Moreover, his time has been filled with controversies and he just can't seem to catch a break.

As per reports, Sullivan was supposed to face Brock Lesnar down the line but that plan got axed quickly. Rumours last year suggested that he was being built up to face John Cena at WrestleMania but that too went off the rails as an injury ruled him out.

2 massive returns announced

WWE's Monday Night RAW next week is set to begin 2020 with a bang! They have announced 2 title matches for the show – US title match and RAW tag-team titles match – while 2 returns have also been confirmed.

Brock Lesnar and Paul Heyman are set to make their first appearance in some time on the 1st RAW in 2020. There is a good chance that this will be used to build up Brock's match at Royal Rumble where he is rumored to be putting his title on the line.

2-time United States champion injured at Live Event

Kalisto suffered an injury at a Live Event in LA on Monday night. The 2-time United States champion was in action against The Revival in a tag-team match.

The match was abruptly ended with The Revival picking up the win and pinning Kalisto. The referee threw the X sign immediately and called for medical help. Early reports suggest that it is a shoulder injury, but there are some that claim it could be on his underarm.

WWE have not yet released a statement on the injury, nor have they confirmed the incident. It seems like they are still evaluating the situation and waiting for the proper reports before confirming the news.

The good news is that Kalisto left ringside on his own and did not need to be carried out. He could be out for a couple of weeks if the injury is not serious but is likely to miss Royal Rumble.

WWE legend who was almost knocked out by Mark Henry at a party

On the latest episode of Sportskeeda's The Rosser Rewind, Fred Rosser, AKA Darren Young recounted a crazy story from a WrestleMania after-party. He revealed an incident where Mark Henry almost knocked out WWE legend, Pat Patterson.

He revealed that the legend came from behind and kissed the World's Strongest Man on the cheek. Henry turned around and swung and almost hit Pat on the face! Rosser said:

I remember one time, at a WrestleMania after-party. Pat Patterson, Mark Henry and I with his family were all sitting at this table at the after-party and Pat Patterson came up behind Mark Henry and then kissed him on the cheek and Mark turned around and he swung. Almost hit Pat Patterson in the face, and Mark said, 'Pat, you are lucky it's you.' (laughs). If it wasn't for Pat, whoever kissed him would have been KOed!

What Rusev told Lana after the show went off the air

The final Monday Night RAW of 2019 ended with a twist that nobody saw coming. Everyone expected Rusev to crash the wedding of Lana and Lashley but the entry of Liv Morgan in the storyline was a shocker.

The show went off the air with Lana screaming in the ring and Lashley laid out flat outside. Rusev and Liv Morgan were in the ring as well and were soaking in the WWE Universe's chants.

'Rusev Day' was being chanted in the arena and the former United States champion was loving it. He had a few words for Lana as well on his way out, saying: "I'm so sorry. But this is just life."

He and Liv Morgan left the ring together, and we now have to wait for next week's RAW to see what happens and why exactly Liv interrupted the wedding.

Vince McMahon felt 'genuine pain' when WWE fans rejected his gimmick idea

Vince McMahon has been in the wrestling business for decades now and it is not surprising that some of his ideas have failed. The number of good things he has done overshadows the failures but The New Day revealed that the failure to get a positive reaction from the WWE Universe when they debuted hurt the WWE Chairman.

Kofi Kingston recalled the incident on Feel The Power podcast and said that the babyface preacher gimmick was not a success, which was clear to Vince. He said:

“He said, 'I really thought people were going to cheer for this thing.' All of us just start laughing because there’s no way that people are going to cheer three positive-preaching preachers in this day and age in the wrestling world. People aren’t coming to the show to cheer for religious… anything, really.
“We all start laughing and he was like, 'No, no, I’m really serious, I thought this was gonna be something that people would get behind.' And we’re like, 'Oh my God, he’s the only one who actually thought that this was going to be an accepted dynamic.'”
