The Rock made his long-awaited return to WWE television on this week's SmackDown, when he and Becky Lynch berated and mocked Baron Corbin. The Rock returned to WWE television after a gap of three years, with his last appearance coming at WrestleMania 32.

According to Sportskeeda's Tom Colohue, the original plan for The Rock was to feature in a segment with Corbin, and Becky not being a part of it. But, The Rock wanted to share the ring with Becky and hence she was added to the segment in which Corbin was embarrassed.

UFC fighter Cain Velasquez made a shocking appearance on SmackDown after Brock Lesnar's win over Kofi Kingston. Velasquez arrived to the ring with Rey Mysterio, the latter who got a beating at the hands of The Beast earlier this week on RAW.

Velasquez, who defeated Lesnar in the UFC, told ESPN that he hasn't yet signed a contract with WWE and is in "advanced talks" with the company. He revealed that he hasn't retired from UFC yet, but will concentrate on his pro wrestling career.

Cain Velasquez has a history with Brock Lesnar, as he defeated The Beast in UFC in 2010 at UFC 121, winning the UFC Heavyweight title for the first time.

Following this week's SmackDown, Velasquez revealed the reason for confronting Brock Lesnar. The 37-year-old revealed that he saw what Lesnar did to Rey Mysterio and Mysterio's son, Dominick, on this past week's episode of RAW, and wanted "payback".

"I'm here because Brock Lesnar knows what he did. It wasn't right, I saw it. I'm here to get some payback," said Velasquez, referring to the beatdown that Lesnar gave to Mysterio and Mysterio's son.

Velasquez was in discussions with AEW over joining them instead of WWE, with Cody Rhodes expressing interest in the UFC fighter, but perhaps WWE had a bigger purse which persuaded Velasquez to join them.
