Unless you have been living under a rock, you are already aware that the most awaited return in recent WWE history finally took place on the second episode of FS1's WWE Backstage on Tuesday, as CM Punk returned to WWE programming.

Even though he has joined FOX as an analyst, that has not stopped Punk fans from celebrating the fact that the former WWE Champion has returned to WWE in some capacity.

As per Fightful Select, the move surprised many there and those who worked behind the scenes. It came as a major surprise probably because FOX had hinted that they were not interested in bringing in Punk for the show after his audition.

Fightful also stated that this was on the cards all along and just some details had to be figured out and finalized.

#5 Was WWE involved in bringing CM Punk back?

While the general perception is that CM Punk has finally returned to wrestling, the truth is that Punk has returned as an employee of FOX and not WWE.

PWInsider has further revealed that the decesion to bring in Punk was 100% a FOX call. However, it also mentioned that WWE gave their full blessings for this deal to go through.

#4 Rey Mysterio offered a unique deal by WWE

Rey Mysterio has managed to get himself a stellar deal with WWE; something that other WWE Superstars can only wish for. Instead of the usual 3 to a 5-year contract, Mysterio has negotiated a short term 2-year contract for himself.

While the contract is for 2 years, it has a clause according to which the Master of 619 can give in his notice on competing 18 months if he so chooses.

Here is what Dave Meltzer revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio:

Rey Mysterio got an 18-month deal because, essentially, he didn’t need to go. He got a good deal all around because they knew full well that if he wasn’t happy, he wouldn’t sign and he had many options.

#3 Paige and The Miz sign new deals

As reported by Ryan Satin on the most recent edition of WWE Backstage, The Miz and Paige have signed contract extensions with WWE.

This comes as great news as the two are very prominent and we certainly hope WWE has major plans for both of them. Hopefully, The Miz will finally get a major push we have all been waiting for.

#2 Roman Reigns reveals why Corbin was disliked backstage

The Big Dog Roman Reigns is currently involved in a major feud against Baron Corbin, or rather, King Corbin. Corbin picked up a big win over Roman Reigns this past SmackDown and it looks like WWE are determined to make the former US Champion a major name.

Reigns recently appeared on Corey Graves' podcast After the Bell and talked about a variety of subjects including why Corbin was not well-liked backstage and how he changed that:

If you would’ve told me I would’ve main-evented a European tour with ‘Football Tom’, I would’ve said ‘Get the hell out of here. Yeah, right.’ One thing, even with the boys back then, he got a reaction, right? He rubbed us a certain way, and when push came to shove and it was time for him to get in the ring, they were like, ‘Dude, you’re going to get fired if you don’t get in the ring.’ He picked it up, he’s a big guy, he’s got good timing... I’ll give him that.

#1 Corey Graves accuses WWE of 'wasting' The Viking Raiders

WWE announcer Corey Graves is not one to mince his words, and that is exactly what Graves did on his most recent edition of After the Bell podcast.

Graves stated that WWE have not utilized the current RAW Tag Team Champions properly:

Unfortunately, what I took out of that is the waste that has become the RAW Tag Team Champions, The Viking Raiders. That’s right, I’m calling it a waste. I’m not calling them a waste; I am calling what I see of The Viking Raiders on my television... is nothing but a massive missed opportunity.

The Viking Raiders, previously known as War Raiders in NXT have managed to capture the RAW Tag Team belts yet it looks like WWE does not know exactly how to utilize them efficiently.

Instead of having to face enhancement talent each week, it is high time that the Viking Raiders get a dominant and believable challenge from well-established teams like the AOP.
