Welcome to today's edition of the WWE Rumor Roundup where we try and bring you the very best reports from various sources related to the WWE. We have some big updates on the future of Rey Mysterio. In addition, the main reason for Big E's single's push has also been revealed.

We start off with the two big headline-makers of the day:

WWE: Real reason why The Fiend attacked Alexa Bliss

Alexa Bliss was attacked by The Fiend, Bray Wyatt, last week on SmackDown and it left the WWE Universe shocked. The move to involve the former Women's Champion in the feud between Braun Strowman and The Fiend started at Extreme Rules and it looks like she will remain a part of it in the long run as well.

Talking about Bliss' reaction backstage to taking part in the storyline, Tom Colohue said:

"Alexa Bliss, to my knowledge, was very happy to be involved in this particular way. She's been there for the filming of the Swamp Fight, and she has been used for this. There has been a discussion to make sure everyone is comfortable playing the parts that they are playing."

There have been speculation that Alexa Bliss will be unveiled as Sister Abigail but that does not seem to be the case. Colohue has revealed that she is only in the storyline as The Fiend wants to attack someone close to Barun Strowman and Bliss is the closest to him in WWE. He said:

"There has been speculation that Alexa Bliss will be Sister Abigail. That is not the case, I'm hearing that way too much. At the moment, the whole concept is that Bliss was attacked by the Fiend because the Fiend is calling out Braun Strowman. He is attacking someone that Braun Strowman cares a lot about because there are not many people that Braun Strowman has been established as caring about. He is not someone who has many friends openly as it were. For me, it has certainly made the feud a lot more interesting because this has been going on since right after WrestleMania. It needed a shot in the arm."

WWE: Vince McMahon gives up on Mustafa Ali?

Vince McMahon has given up on Mustafa Ali according to a report by Paul Davis of WrestlingNews.co. The report claims that the WWE Chairman is no longer interested in pushing the RAW Superstar.

Ali was reportedly set to be unveiled as the Hacker in the mysterious storyline but that was abruptly dropped and is no longer something WWE has interest in doing.

Talking about the move to RAW and Mustafa Ali's involvement on the Red brand, Tom Colohue mentioned that it was MVP's idea. He said:

"When it comes to his return, this comes as a result of availability. But I personally couldn't be happier for him. If there were more people there, I worry that he would not have got that chance. And he is someone who deserves to at least be on TV. He has had WWE Championship matches quite recently. He had so much momentum on SmackDown. On RAW, he took his chance and got something good out of it. Everyone else in that match wanted him to pick up that win. MVP has a strong voice backstage, and I think he is using it right to put people over."

WWE: Rey Mysterio signs new deal?

The future of Rey Mysterio has been in the balance for some time but that seems to have been settled. Wrestling Observer Newsletter notes that the Mysterio has signed a new deal with WWE despite having an interesting offer on the table from AEW.

Dave Meltzer reported that AEW were keen on getting Mysterio but he was offered a better deal by WWE and thus he decided to stay with the company. However, they claim that it is not a long-term deal but is slightly longer than his previous reported 18-month contract:

I can’t confirm pen to paper, but Rey Mysterio is staying, as was always the betting line outcome of this, but it’s as close to official without confirmation of it being official, and obviously Dominik is a big part of that deal. AEW made an offer that equaled the WWE’s per-match offer, but the WWE offer was higher because it was for more dates. We don’t have a time frame past this new deal would be considerably longer than the previous (18 months) deal but not the five-years or longer deals that WWE has tried to get everyone on.

WWE: Kofi Kingston wants more recognition for The Rock

Kofi Kingston is officially recognized as the first African-American Superstar to win the WWE Championship. However, he does not want to be remembered as the first-ever African-American to win the prestigious title.

The former WWE Champion claims that The Rock is the real first-ever African-American Superstar and wants him to be acknowledged as such. Kingston adds that The People's Champ is Black regardless of what people say and WWE needs to mention it that way.

Talking on D-Von Dudley's Table Talk podcast, he said:

"I think it’s silly that people try to not count The Rock in that category. Regardless of what you look like, you are what you are. He’s Black. Whether he’s half Black, he’s Black. I definitely take a lot of pride in that sentiment like you said. I think for a long time, people of color, especially African Americans have been waiting for someone who looks exactly like them to hold that title." (H/T WrestlingInc)

Booker T and Mark Henry have also won the top titles in WWE but they were World Heavyweight Champions and not the WWE Champions.

WWE: Big E singles push to end with a championship?

Big E
Big E

Big E is set for a singles push and Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter believes that it would not be without consequence. The journalist reports that The New Day member will get a shot at a title soon if things go to plan.

However, he did admit that there is no details yet known about which championship Big E will be hunting. Meltzer guessed that it could be the Intercontinental Championship currently held by AJ Styles or might even be the Universal Championship, currently belonging to Braun Strowman.

The Big E singles push has to lead to a title match in some form, and unless they are building him for Wyatt down the line, the other possibility is A.J. Styles, who has been winning his bouts clean.

Big E has been an NXT Champion as well as an Intercontinental Champion in the WWE but people often forget about his solo achievements because of his long runs as as a Tag Team Champion as part of The New Day with WWE. He has been backed by several Hall of Famers to make a singles run and this might be the start of it.
