What's the story?

Amidst news of Goldberg coming back to WWE for the Saudi Arabia event, there were rumours regarding his role at the show.

Rumors stated that Goldberg is being brought back to dethrone WWE Champion Kofi Kingston in Saudi Arabia, but the story is completely false. Also, the rumors of Goldberg facing off against Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam have no weight too.

In case you didn't know...

Recently, Goldberg posted a cryptic photo on his Instagram handle, indicating that he was coming back to professional wrestling. Soon after, WWE's Saudi Arabian website, and then WWE's official website both confirmed that the former WWE Universal Champion would be making an appearance on the June 7th event.

The news kicked off the rumor mill, with the biggest one being in regards to Goldberg's role at the event.

The heart of the matter

The rumor suggested that Goldberg would be making his triumphant return to the squared circle by defeating Kofi Kingston for his WWE Title at the Saudi Arabia event.

Another rumor stated that Goldberg will be taking on former Universal Champion Brock Lesnar at The Biggest Party of the Summer, Summerslam 2019.

According to Wrestling News Co., both rumors are completely untrue. WWE still hasn't decided what they would be doing with the returning Superstar at the Saudi show.

Although Lesnar could now be open to more appearances with WWE, following his supposed retirement from MMA, there haven't been any backstage talks about another match pitting the Beast Incarnate and Goldberg.

What's next?

Goldberg is returning to WWE after a hiatus of two long years. It would be interesting to see what WWE has in store for him at the June 7th show. Also, one wonders whether this is a one-off appearance or will Goldberg appear again post the Saudi Arabia event.
