Despite the threat of All Elite Wrestling and a number of their talent requesting their releases in recent times, WWE have been clear and effective thus far in signing their top names to long-term deals that they’re looking for. Lana recently signed a new deal and sources indicate that signing Rusev to a new deal is now one of WWE’s top priorities.

Rusev is extremely popular within the company, as proven in innumerable Up Up Down Down videos and by consistent pushes into prominence. After getting behind his initial unbeaten streak push, Rusev Day had the full backing of the company and Rusev has been a multiple time United States champion and been involved in a number of high-profile feuds with John Cena, Randy Orton, Roman Reigns and AJ Styles.

While his current storyline with Lana and Bobby Lashley hasn’t proved the most popular with fans, the sustained television time, high replay value and YouTube views are believed to be highly encouraging for the company. I have been told that this is a precursor in their efforts to make the man sign a new deal.

“Rusev is a top priority. They’re not going to let him go. Now that Lana’s onboard it should only be a matter of time.”

WWE sources have explained that Rusev’s popularity with WWE management is largely down to his work ethic, physicality and natural charisma that connects well with fans. Vince McMahon himself is said to be very much in Rusev’s corner with no interest in letting the Bulgarian Brute go.

It’s an exciting time to be a Rusev fan, even if you’re not necessarily a fan of the current storyline. With hopefully many more years to come, WWE could translate this current screen time into a solid push to the top with a long and storied career to follow.
