WWE SmackDown: 5 Theories why Daniel Bryan may have been turned face by Vince McMahon

Daniel Bryan is back to being a babyface once again

Daniel Bryan is probably the most beloved babyface of the modern era and the 'Yes!' movement was something that transcended sports entertainment. And then he turned heel and became a fantastic advocate for the environment, riling up fans for the choices they make.

But now, it seems like he's on the side of the good yet once more. And this is because of the 5 possible reasons that I will chronicle in the pages that follow and I invite you to weigh in on the same in the comments section below.

So why did Vince McMahon, Eric Bischoff and the rest of the creative team have him go down this route, you ask? I'm only speculating but the answers are quite obvious if you think about them.

Also, do you think Daniel Bryan should have remained a heel or do you like this babyface avatar?

#5 Allows him to have a flashier move set

I'm sure that anyone who reads this site is aware that Daniel Bryan is one of the best in the history of the business. He's been trained by the greatest of all time, Shawn Michaels, but branched out from the learning tree to become a legend in his own right. So many others in the sports entertainment business like Pete Dunne and Ali cite him as an inspiration.

But when he works as a heel, he has to work a more limited move set so as to not get cheered by the WWE Universe, unfortunately. By making him babyface again, Bryan can fly around the ring like he used to, and do so with the utmost of finesse, as only he can.

Watching him do what he does in the ring is such a pleasure, isn't it? It's like watching Eddie Van Halen on the guitar.

#4 Allows for the 'Yes' chants to return again

RAW starts a new season and SmackDown Live moves to FOX, so we're basically on the precipice of a new era in WWE right now. Whichever network Daniel Bryan lands up on will want the audience to seem enthusiastic and 'into the action'. Well, the trademark 'Yes' chants are a proven commodity and the participatory nature of these chants have led to some great TV moments.

Bryan is a genuinely likable guy who returned to action after being told that he would never compete again. He is the closest thing we have to a superhero at this time. Why wouldn't the audience want to root this one-in-a-million guy who's also a great professional wrestler/sports entertainer when the bell rings?

Let's assume he stays on FOX and the show opens with thunderous 'Yes!' chants, I'm guessing the Network executives will be thrilled to have such a lively show.

#3 Allows for greater merchandise sales than before

I'm sure that a lot of our readers have a Daniel Bryan shirt in their collection at the moment. And I can bet that it's a shirt from the 'Yes!' movement and not one of the many creative designs on the WWE store right now.

I mean a 'Yes!' shirt just makes more sense to wear than a 'Fickle' or 'Planet's Champion' shirt. Especially those in the WWE Universe who cheered Daniel Bryan to victory against all odds at WrestleMania when he became WWE Champion have a reason to sport these shirts with pride.

Heels don't really sell as much merchandise unless you're Chris Jericho, who comes out with taglines by the dozen. Bryan could really help the needle move for WWE if the 'Yes!' movement were to return in a brand new avatar, in my opinion.

It would be 'best for business'.

#2 Possible opponent for future WWE Champion, Brock Lesnar

As great as Kofi Kingston's ascent to the top has been, every good thing must come to an end in due time, right? WWE will want a global face like Brock Lesnar to be the face of SmackDown on FOX, and will most likely, have him defeat Kofi Kingston. And when this happens, the WWE Champion will most likely be a heel.

So when you have a heel Champion, what usually happens is that he runs through babyface challengers one by one. Daniel Bryan could be one of many names in this list, and based on his previous match with Brock Lesnar, could be a great contender to take the fight to him and decimate him. Others like Kevin Owens and Roman Reigns could also stack up against The Beast Incarnate.

This could be the main reason why Bryan is a babyface now. Time will tell if this prediction does come true.

#1 Allows WWE to play the angle of it being a ruse all along

And then, there's always the chance that he isn't a babyface yet. Maybe he teams up with Roman Reigns only to betray him and set up a feud between Reigns and two allies versus Bryan, Harper, and Rowan.

What this will essentially do is allow for The Usos to return to action and actually team up with Roman Reigns, to take on the impending threat. And this unit to stay on to feud with the likes of The New Day and The OC and maybe even the Undisputed ERA down the line, if the foursome gets called to RAW or SmackDown.

Everyone loves a good betrayal and we could certainly see one happen at WWE Hell in a Cell. I'm pretty certain that there's some equity left for heel Daniel Bryan, despite the points I've mentioned.
