SmackDown Live presented their penultimate episode of the show ahead of Clash of Champions next weekend and interestingly the only match that was made official was Erick Rowan vs Roman Reigns after it was revealed that the former was the man behind the recent attacks on the Big Dog.

Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville were able to defeat Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross, which means that it's almost a certainty that they will be battling it out for the Women's Tag Team Championships next weekend.

Apart from this, Randy Orton and Kofi Kingston's feud continued to heat up as they head into their WWE Championship match and the semi-finalists of The King of The Ring tournament have now been confirmed with Elias set to take on Chad Gable next week.

#5. Ali didn't progress in the KOTR tournament

Ali has been one of the hottest prospects on SmackDown Live for the past few months. WWE hasn't done a lot with the former 205 Live star, but it was thought that the King of the Ring Tournament would be a way for him to finally find his feet after his injury earlier in the year only lead to Kofi Kingston's push to the top.

Ali faced off with Elias this week and even without the help of Shane McMahon. The Drifter was able to pick up the win over to set up an encounter with Chad Gable next week on SmackDown Live.

This means that the WWE Universe has not only been denied Andrade vs Ali in the semi-final but also a potential match up between Ali and Ricochet in the final of the tournament at Clash of Champions.

#4. Roman Reigns vs Erick Rowan?

Roman Reigns has been attacked backstage a number of times by an unknown assailant and interestingly, last week on SmackDown Live it was revealed that Erick Rowan was the man behind at least one of these attacks.

After Daniel Bryan claimed he knew nothing about Rowan's involvement in the attacks, the duo has seemingly split and Rowan has now been announced as Reigns' opponent for Clash of Champions next weekend.

It's somewhat underwhelming considering the fact that Rowan and Bryan were said to have been the attackers from the beginning and it was hoped that there would be some swerve somewhere in the storyline. Reigns missed the last pay-per-view because of the attacks and now the WWE Universe has been given Rowan vs Roman instead of what could have been a standout match between Roman and Daniel Bryan.

It's hoped that at Clash of Champions there will be a swerve and Bryan could then be revealed as the man behind the second attack since the WWE Universe and Reigns himself are still in the dark when it comes to who actually attacked him in the parking lot.

#3. Bayley's face entrance

Bayley turned heel on Monday Night Raw this past week when she helped her former Tag Team partner Sasha Banks to attack Raw Women's Champion Becky Lynch with a chair. Bayley was then on SmackDown Live this week and for some reason, she still made her usual face entrance before going on to attack Charlotte Flair.

Bayley still panders to the crowd and has her Bayley Buddies as part of the entrance even though this doesn't work since the WWE Universe won't be cheering for her as a heel. She then talked about what happened on Raw whilst the crowd chanted for Becky Lynch which was definitely interesting since Bayley seemed to be of the impression that she was still a face.

Of course, Sasha Banks later showed up and it was made clear that the two women were on the same page on both shows and would now be looking to dominate in both of their matches at Clash of Champions so that they can be the two women representing Raw and SmackDown's Women's Divisions when the weekend comes to a close.

#2. Is Charlotte now face?

Because of Bayley's recent heel turn, Charlotte was forced to turn face
Because of Bayley's recent heel turn, Charlotte was forced to turn face

Charlotte Flair has never worked as a face but for some reason, WWE has decided that she needs to be the face heading into her match with Bayley at Clash of Champions because it's in her hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina.

Flair is a nine-time Women's Champion and has been handed a lot of things in her career, which is why she is one of the most hated wrestlers in the locker room. This week on SmackDown Live WWE decided that it made sense for Charlotte to be turned face because Sasha Banks and Bayley are now heels and could be looking to dominate the Women's Division in the same way they did ahead of this year's WrestleMania.

Charlotte isn't the kind of woman that the WWE Universe can get behind since she's been successful in every pursuit she has made so it's hard for any of them to connect with her. There is also the added fact that she is Ric Flair's daughter which means that she's been lying, cheating and stealing her entire life, so being a face just wouldn't work for her.

#1. Chad Gable and Samoa Joe?

Chad Gable was victorious over Andrade this week on SmackDown Live which means that he's able to progress to the semi-finals of the King of the Ring Tournament where he will face off against Elias.

Ahead of his match this week, Gable was spotted backstage with Samoa Joe where he continued to make fun of his height even though Samoa Joe is a Monday Night Raw superstar. Interestingly, Samoa Joe is one of the men in the triple threat match on Raw next week which will decide the finalists for the tournament.

This segment seems to have basically given away the fact that the final will be between Chad Gable and Samoa Joe. There was a rumor a while ago that stated that Gable could be winning the tournament and then being known as "Shorty G" which is why the name was trademarked for him. Many of the WWE Universe just hoped that this was another rumor, but it appears that this now may not be the case if Gable is being pushed towards the final as the underdog.
