WWE SmackDown Live Preview - 30 October, 2018

This episode of SmackDown Live makes or breaks Crown Jewel
This episode of SmackDown Live makes or breaks Crown Jewel

It was SmackDown Live that stole the show at Evolution. Charlotte Flair and Becky Lynch put on a match for the ages. And I'm sure that SmackDown Live will use the opportunity to capitalize on the fallout. Welcome to the SmackDown Live Preview.

This is a very important episode because it builds to the Crown Jewel pay-per-view in Saudi Arabia. SmackDown Live has a chance to steal the show there as well. I wonder what surprises lie in store this week, to build anticipation and excitement for the big event.

Consider this episode the trailer before the show airs. There are some confirmed segments and I will guess the rest, in this very article.

Here is your official preview before the show this week!

#5 Brand new United States Champion?

Could Tye Dillinger cause the upset of the century?
Could Tye Dillinger cause the upset of the century?

Shinsuke Nakamura is probably the most underwhelming champion in all of WWE right now. What should have been a fabulous reign, considering just how talented the man is, has been reduced to a sideshow because WWE just doesn't seem to have any plans for him. Well, until this week that is, when Tye Dillinger steps up to the plate to claim the prize.

Bear in mind that Dillinger has been out of action for a while owing to the attack from Randy Orton on his fingers. Could Dillinger return to SmackDown Live and capture the prize that has eluded him through his career, to establish him as a top-tier superstar? At this point, any change in the United States Championship picture will be welcome.

We all know that Dillinger is no slouch in the ring and can actually go when the bell rings. Expect this match to be a very good one.

#4 Build to Survivor Series begins?

Will the crowd actually support Lynch over Rousey?
Will the crowd actually support Lynch over Rousey?

Becky Lynch may actually be the most over superstar in all of WWE right now. Despite the fact that she plays an underhanded heel, she has the support and love of the entire WWE Universe. And she proves it every time she steps into the ring, with incredible wrestling bouts. However, the toughest battle of her career lies ahead of her at Survivor Series.

How will the Irish Lass Kicker prepare for the Baddest Woman On The Planet when the two clash very soon? Will the crowd actually root for Lynch over Rousey? Can Lynch pull off the biggest upset in history?

I personally think that this is a match that could launch Lynch into the stratosphere. It could be the first step in her becoming a breakthrough superstar.

Except Lynch to rile Rousey up with a scathing promo on this week's show.

#3 Clash of the contenders?

How will these four men build excitement ahead of Crown Jewel?
How will these four men build excitement ahead of Crown Jewel?

The four men who are competing in the World Cup tournament from SmackDown Live are all destined to go into the WWE Hall of Fame sooner than later. However, there hasn't been the air of excitement that one may expect from the tournament, thus far.

If anything, the World Cup tournament seems a little drab right now. This matter could be rectified on this week's show.

Will The Miz play mind games with the other competitors, going into the big tournament? Will Rey Mysterio counter these devious tactics with his high flying lucha libre skills?

Will Randy Orton take his ire out on Jeff Hardy once again this week, in a sick, twisted, sadistic and despicable manner? Will this transform Jeff Hardy into an alter ego like Brother Nero, to the delight of the WWE Universe?

#2 RAW Superstar shows up on SmackDown Live?

Could Wyatt become the new leader of the SAnitY stable on SmackDown Live?
Could Wyatt become the new leader of the SAnitY stable on SmackDown Live?

RAW is far too stacked with talent right now. On the other hand, SmackDown Live could do with a strong babyface to build programs and feuds around. I strongly advocate bringing Bray Wyatt to the blue brand on this Halloween special episode.

Let me build a case around Wyatt coming to SmackDown Live as well, this week. Of course, it is the perfect setting and Wyatt could choose Halloween as the day he decides to make his presence felt on the blue brand. Not only can he command Harper but SAnitY as well, in the coming weeks.

Wyatt has been on the sidelines ever since Matt Hardy departed RAW because of the injuries he'd suffered. Wyatt could become the top babyface on SmackDown Live, if he were to be booked the right way.

#1 An advertised face off

Will one of the two babyfaces finally snap and turn heel this week?
Will one of the two babyfaces finally snap and turn heel this week?

AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan would be a marquee match anywhere in the world. All that WWE needs to do is advertise this dream 'once in a lifetime' clash like a match between two athletes that respect one another. Instead, they've been making Pinocchio allusions at one another and having misunderstandings. Expect much of the same on this episode as well.

I can't say that I'm a particularly big fan of the approach that WWE has adopted. They want to show dissent between Styles and Bryan, two men that play by the rules. They want a clash of a lifetime and they want heat going into the battle.

So expect more miscues, miscommunication and misunderstandings on this week's show between the two men competing for the WWE Championship. Meh.

Are you guys excited about this week's go-home episode before Crown Jewel?
