The RAW that followed after Payback was a fun affair, but let's be honest, everyone is waiting for what is going to transpire on WWE SmackDown at the moment. As good and as fun as Payback was, it was essentially the Roman Reigns show, and everyone is waiting for the next chapter on WWE SmackDown.
So, what does the future hold for the Universal Champion, who seems to have now turned heel? And what does the future hold for the rest of the WWE SmackDown roster, now that Payback has concluded?

#5 Alexa Bliss shows up on an episode of the Firefly Fun House on WWE SmackDown
If you noticed the lower-half of Alexa Bliss' attire from the video that's been shared here, you probably noticed that it resembles what Abby The Witch from the Firefly Fun House wears. Tom Colohue of Sportskeeda was one of the first people to point out this fact about the WWE SmackDown star, and it makes you wonder what is next for her, presumably on this week's episode of WWE SmackDown. This is what Colohue had to say, about Alexa Bliss.
Could we see her inside the Firefly Funhouse this week, as a special member of the demented kids show? In fact, could all the puppets, in time, be replaced by actual WWE Superstars, with Huskus The Pig being revealed as Bo Dallas, Ramblin' Rabbit as someone else, and so on?
But it could all start with Alexa Bliss adopting a whole new persona, embracing the darkness that currently resides in her, on this week's episode of WWE SmackDown.
#4 Big E and Roman Reigns have a clash on WWE SmackDown
Roman Reigns has established that he is a heel, and that he is someone who is not afraid to bend the rules, to become the top dog on WWE SmackDown anymore. And for this very reason, he should defend the Universal Championship against a top babyface from WWE SmackDown this week, and cheat to defeat him, and let's be fair...nobody would be better for this part than Big E.
Big E showed a passion and intensity at Payback 2020 that many had thought had been lacking when he was a part of the New Day, and he could come out to cut a very passionate promo about how he has inched and clawed his way to the top on WWE SmackDown.
Let's face it, a match between Roman Reigns and Big E is pretty much guaranteed to be a great contest, and giving it away on WWE SmackDown may actually lay the seeds for a more massive clash somewhere down the line, maybe even at WrestleMania.
#3 Bayley blames Sasha Banks for their loss, assaults her on WWE SmackDown
Once upon a time both the WWE SmackDown Woman's Champion Bayley and Sasha Banks had two titles each, but after the events of Payback Bayley has one and Sasha Banks has 0 belts right now. Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax teamed up to form a very unlikely alliance that would go on to pulverize Sasha Banks and Bayley and now we have brand new Women's Tag Team Champions. leaving us with an interesting situation on WWE SmackDown.
If one of the two has to turn face, one has to believe that it would be Sasha Banks because it makes more sense to have her chase the WWE SmackDown Women's Champion, where Bayley rules corrupt and proud at the mountaintop, and for this to happen, Bayley needs to prove that she's a far worse person than Sasha Banks is, at the moment. And this could be achieved if Bayley turns on Sasha Banks this week, after blaming her for their loss, leading to a feud between the two women somewhere down the line.
#2 Alexa Bliss snaps and attacks Nikki Cross on WWE SmackDown
Anyone who comes into contact with The Fiend changes, and Alexa Bliss is certainly no different. We have seen a change in her behavior on WWE SmackDown, where she broke a cup that once belonged to her best friend, Nikki Cross, and we've seen a change in her appearance as well, as she's been drawn much like a moth towards the flame that is The Fiend (her own words, mind you). So, this week, could we see her tap into the dark side completely and attack Nikki Cross?
The Fiend may be slowly transforming into a babyface, but until that happens, Alexa Bliss may have to go to the darkest place she has ever been.
Alexa Bliss and Paul Heyman could have an interesting exchange on WWE SmackDown this week, since they will be the mouthpieces for their respective parties, in case they do clash somewhere down the line. This transformation may just be the single most interesting thing Alexa Bliss has done in her wrestling career.
#1 Miz and Morrison split up on WWE SmackDown
Now that the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions are heel superstars, there is basically no point in having Miz and Morrison stay together as a unit on WWE SmackDown. Especially if you consider the rumors that The Miz is supposedly the leader of RETRIBUTION, which may entail a move from WWE SmackDown to RAW in the near future.
And so, The Miz could turn on John Morrison on this week's episode of WWE SmackDown, out of the blue.
Not only would this allow for a Miz vs. Morrison feud to play out on WWE SmackDown which could be very interesting indeed, but more importantly, it could afford more freedom to someone like John Morrison, a man whose athleticism has been impaired by the fact that he is a heel and cannot necessarily do flashy moves.
