WWE SmackDown is, without a doubt, the best product from the company at the moment. We are all set for yet another episode that can witness several new storylines unfold this week. From old feuds to new, the creative will now start building up towards the upcoming WWE pay-per-view, Hell In A Cell. It would be fair to assume that Blue brand has an exciting show in store for the viewers.
In this article, we will take a look at the things that can unfold on WWE SmackDown this week.
#1 The Usos return to action on WWE SmackDown
Ever since Jimmy Uso returned on WWE SmackDown, he has only competed in one match, and that was against Cesaro. Last week, he intended to reunite with Jey Uso inside the ring and demanded a tag team match. As a result, Adam Pearce has confirmed a tag team match for tonight in which The Usos will face The Street Profits.
Contrary to Jimmy’s expectations, Jey was not happy that his brother decided to get a match without talking to him first. The latter insisted that they should run these things by Roman Reigns. On the other hand, Jimmy Uso argued that they don’t need to be by Reigns’ side in order to find success on WWE SmackDown.
This would be The Usos’ first match in over a year, but there is a lot at stake ahead of this encounter. Jimmy’s disrespectful behavior towards the Universal Champion is bound to cause more unrest in the family dynamic. Moreover, Jey Uso will also have to choose between his brother and The Tribal Chief, who pushed him into becoming a main-event superstar on WWE SmackDown.
He was visibly upset with his brother, and he could make a surprise decision to attack him after their match tonight. On the flip side, this match can also remind him of when he was unbeatable alongside Jimmy Uso. #2 Seth Rollins uses Cesaro to inch closer to Roman Reigns on WWE SmackDown
Last week on WWE SmackDown, Seth Rollins subjected Cesaro to yet another brutal attack. The Architect has been tormenting the latter for months and even brutalized him after the Universal Championship match at WrestleMania Backlash. Interestingly, this angle has allowed Rollins to cross paths with Roman Reigns on the Blue brand, and it can happen once again.
Previously on WWE SmackDown, we saw Rollins asking Reigns to keep his cousins in check. The latter made it clear that he manages his own business, but he likes that Rollins is taking care of Cesaro. There are many interesting possibilities for the creative team to explore if they involve both the former Shield brethren in a long-term story-telling.
Given that both these superstars are heels on WWE SmackDown, they could act out of mutual interest. However, even the slightest hint of a potential threat to Reigns’ supremacy will prompt The Tribal Chief to immediately lash out – even if it’s Seth Rollins. This might also be an excellent way to bring Rollins back into the Universal Championship picture.
#3 Aleister Black gets a massive match against Big E on WWE SmackDown
Aleister Black made his much-awaited return on WWE SmackDown last week. He made an immediate impact by attacking Big E during the Fatal Four-Way match for the Intercontinental Championship that also featured the champion Apollo Crews, Kevin Owens, and Sami Zayn. Black’s interference allowed Crews to capitalize and pin Big E to retain his gold.
After several months of absence, WWE SmackDown rolled out several promos that showed his character embracing its darker side. Following Black's attack on Big E, it is widely believed that he will work as a heel, but he could also be more of an anti-hero going forward. Both superstars will most likely engage in a match tonight, and it will be interesting to see the new ‘tools of punishment’ that Aleister Black has been teasing for a while.
Big E will look to avenge the attack on him last week, and The New Day member will focus all his attention on Black. We might also find out why he decided to target Big E in particular. This storyline has a lot of potential on WWE SmackDown, and we hope that the creative team will make the most of it by booking both the superstars strongly.
#4 WWE SmackDown Tag Team Champions restart old rivalry

It would be the perfect time to restart the rivalry between The Mysterios and The Alpha Academy, as they can easily pick up from where they left off. Otis and Gable don’t necessarily need to take the titles from The Mysterios for this angle to be successful.
An intense feud followed by a successful title defense will help add more credibility to The Mysterios’ current title reign. It will also elevate The Alpha Academy’s position on the current WWE SmackDown roster. In the meantime, the creative team will have enough time to identify the other emerging teams in the division.
#5 What’s next for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion?
WWE SmackDown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair successfully defended her title against Bayley at WrestleMania Backlash. She will now look for fresh challenges ahead of the upcoming Hell In A Cell pay-per-view. Unfortunately for her, there are not enough options to explore in the women’s division of the Blue brand.
There’s a high chance that Sasha Banks will return on WWE SmackDown and go after Belair. She never got her title rematch after losing the championship at WrestleMania 37. It would be fair if this leads to another match between the two at Hell In A Cell. It is also one of the very few current rivalries that could gain enough momentum in the next couple of weeks.
The creative team can also book a triple-threat match for the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship at Hell In A Cell between Bianca Belair, Bayley, and Sasha Banks. All three superstars share a long, brutal history and can deliver an epic battle inside the ring. It would be a great way to make up for the lack of high-intensity feuds revolving around the RAW Women’s Championship and the Women’s Tag Team Championships.
