SmackDown Results: The Usos secure big win; Top Champion attacked before Title match

Roman Reigns was backstage with The Usos before SmackDown kicked off and asked them what their plan was with the match tonight.

Jimmy said they were looking to score tag team gold so that the whole family can be champs. Roman wished them the best of luck before Jey told Reigns that even though they have their own match tonight, his loyalty still remained with Reigns.

Out in the ring, SmackDown kicked off with The Street Profits as they made fun of The Usos and the fact that Reigns lives 'rent free' in Jey's head. Jimmy and his brother went at them with their own insults before the two teams squared up and the match began.

Montez Ford and Jimmy Uso kicked off the match and Jey was tagged in early on after Jimmy was sent into the corner. Main Event Jey was mad and got some hits in before Ford caught him in an armbar before tagging Dawkins in for the double team.

Jimmy was back in and came back with a double team of their own before isolating Dawkins in their corner. Montez got the tag and they tossed The Usos over the ropes with a double-team move.

After a break, The Usos had Montez on the floor outside and Jey sent him into the barricades. Back in the ring, Ford was in trouble but managed to fight his way to Dawkins but Jey took Angelo out before the tag could be made on SmackDown.

Dawkins sneaked in the tag right before hitting Jimmy with a spinebuster and Ford hit a dive but Jey dragged his brother out of the ring in time. Dawkins and Jey took each other out at ringside while Jimmy hit Montez with a superkick in the ring for the win on SmackDown.

Riott Squad vs. Natalya & Tamina on SmackDown

The Riott Squad attacked Tamina before the match began on SmackDown and after the commercials, we returned to see Ruby and Liv dominating the match by isolating Natalya in their corner.

The Queen Of Harts managed to make the tag after Tamina recovered and she instantly took over the match.

Ruby Riott was legal and was hit with the Superfly Splash while Natalya missed the discus clothesline and took a big move on the outside from Liv. Morgan was unable to break up the pin, letting Tamina get the win on Riott.

Result: Natalya & Tamina def. Riott Squad

Grade: B-

Backstage on SmackDown, Adam Pearce granted The Usos a shot at the SmackDown Tag Team Titles next week.

Bianca Belair vs. Carmella on SmackDown

Before the match began on SmackDown, Bayley sneaked up from behind the commentary team and joined them.

In the ring, Carmella sent the champ outside before Belair deadlifted her and threw her back in the ring. Carmella hit a cheap shot while the ref was busy before unloading on Bianca in the corner.

Belair hit a modified Fallaway Slam before running into the SmackDown ring post when Carmella ducked. Mella hit a kick to the head on the apron before they traded pin attempts.

Carmella missed the Code of Silence and Belair countered another X-Factor with the KOD before getting the win on SmackDown.

Grade: B

Backstage on SmackDown, the Mysterios were confident about their title defense against The Dirty Dawgs tonight.

Seth Rollins mocks Cesaro on SmackDown

Seth Rollins was out wearing another spectacular suit and was about to celebrate his birthday by reminiscing about beating up Cesaro last week. He then said that he blacked out during the attack before blaming Cesaro and the fans for the outburst.

Rollins said that the WWE Universe brainwashed the Swiss star into thinking he could get in The Messiah's way without any repercussions. He looked at the camera and called the viewers guilty before singing himself a Happy Birthday and leaving.

Apollo Crews (c) vs. Kevin Owens - Intercontinental title match on SmackDown

Owens unloaded on Apollo right from the bell and got a near fall very quickly. Apollo dodged a big move and hit a big dropkick to even things out.

Apollo dodged a powerbomb but took the Stunner on SmackDown. The Champion was nearly pinned but Azeez hit the Nigerian Nail on Owens, ending the match in a disqualification.

Result: Kevin Owens def. Apollo Crews via DQ but Apollo retained the Intercontinental title

Grade: C

Backstage, it looked like Roman was unhappy with Jey over him getting a tag team title match. Reigns was not happy that things did not go according to 'his plan' for once.

Ricky Boogs was back to support Shinsuke. The man has excellent taste in guitars.

Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Chad Gable on SmackDown

Otis attacked Nakamura before the match on SmackDown. The referee kicked it off and Gable hit two German Suplexes before Shinsuke retaliated with big kicks. Gable was caught in a submission move.

The match was still going on when Corbin came out in a suit and just walked away with the crown that Shinsuke stole from him. In the ring, Nakamura hit the Kinshasa and picked up the win.

Grade: B-

After the match on SmackDown, Corbin was on the ramp, mocking Shinsuke but Ricky Boogs attacked him from behind, letting Nakamura get the crown back.

Owens was injured and demanded a rematch for the Intercontinental title. Adam granted the match and said he would ban Azeez from ringside.

After a break, we returned to SmackDown to see that Rey Mysterio was attacked and injured backstage. Rey said that there was no way the match was happening but Dominik said he would go alone.

Dominik was alone and took quite the beating from the challengers as the match started on SmackDown. Dom managed to kick out of every pin attempt before fighting back in the corner and drove Roode outside.He tossed Ziggler over the top rope and hit a dive on both challengers.

Dom had Ziggler set for the 619 but missed the move before taking a Zig-Zag for a near fall. Roode had Dom on his shoulders and was about to end the match when Rey's entrance music hit and Dominik used the distraction to roll Roode up from the win.

Result: Rey & Dominik Mysterio def. The Dirty Dawgs to retain the SmackDown Tag Team Titles

The Usos walked out after the match and stared the champs down before their match next week on SmackDown.

Episode grade: B

We had a big opening with the reunion of the former tag team champs, The Usos, while Rey and Dominik retained their titles in the main event. Azeez cost Owens a title match while Bianca got a big win on tonight's SmackDown.
