WWE SummerSlam 2019: 5 Points to note

Here's everything to note from WWE SummerSlam 2019
Here's everything to note from WWE SummerSlam 2019

WWE SummerSlam has come and gone and fans and critics weren't shy to let the world know what they thought of the Biggest Party of the Summer. WWE delivered yet another solid show which turned out to be one of the best PPVs of the year. While not every single match delivered, others exceeded expectations. Only one championship changed hands at the event, with Seth Rollins pinning The Beast Brock Lesnar clean to win the Universal Championship for the second time.

Several other notable things took place at the event. Edge returned to his birth country where he laid-out Elias with a Spear and Trish Stratus wrestled her final match in front of her home crowd... but most importantly, pyro is back! Meanwhile, WWE Championship match ended in disappointment and the crowd wasn't pleased. Nevertheless, SummerSlam was an interesting show and it made us want to tune into Monday Night Raw tonight.

The event was watched by millions across the world and it left everyone talking and today, right here, we will look at the five points worth noting for this year's SummerSlam.

#5 Dolph Ziggler is still an important asset in WWE

Dolph Ziggler took on The Icon Goldberg in a squash match where Goldberg expectedly came out on top. Ziggler cut a promo before and after the match, even mentioning the words "Pro Wrestling," which is banned in WWE in favor of "Sports Entertainment." The match lasted only one minute and fifty seconds but it was still in some way or another a breath-taking match. Even though Ziggler was squashed by Goldberg, The Show-off showed us why he is still an important asset in WWE.

Sure, he was nearly completely broken in half with all those Spears and a devastating Jackhammer, but he still came out looking good. He showed that he wasn't afraid of Goldberg and a few Spears wasn't enough to keep him down. Ziggler sold all of Goldberg's moves perfectly and made the latter look good. WWE still needs Ziggler and when they need someone to go against a certain Superstar, they're not afraid to give him a call. When they needed someone to challenge Kofi Kingston for the WWE Championship, he was the guy they chose.

#4 Another shot at the SmackDown Women's Championship is in store for Charlotte Flair

The Queen Charlotte Flair proved that she is, in fact, The Queens of All Eras when she defeated WWE Hall of Famer Trish Stratus in front of her people. Not only did she give Stratus a tough match, but she also made the 7-time Women's Champion tap out.

Along with Becky Lynch, Charlotte is the biggest female Superstar currently competing in WWE and she made history when she became a nine-time Women's Champion. Flair is currently assigned to the SmackDown Live brand and she has defeated almost everyone on the roster.

Last night, Bayley defeated Ember Moon to retain her SmackDown Women's Championship, and with Clash of Champions coming up, she needs a credible opponent to challenge her for the title. There's no other credible Superstar in the SD Live women's division than The Queen.

Bayley and Flair aren't strangers, as they are part of the Four Horsewomen of WWE. This might not be good news for fans, but WWE can't afford to let one of their biggest stars sit-out another PPV. There's no better choice than to have Bayley vs Charlotte Flair for the SmackDown Women's title at Clash of Champions.

#3 Kofi Kingston is not done with Randy Orton just yet

Kofi Kingston took on his old nemesis Randy Orton for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam in a match that was years in the making. Kofi claimed that The Viper tried to hold him back and this was his chance to solidify himself as a worthy WWE Champion. Unfortunately, the crowd turned on Kofi during the match by booing him and cheering Randy instead.

Similarly, last year's WWE Championship match at SummerSlam ended in a disqualification after Samoa Joe taunted AJ Styles' family, and coincidentally, this year's WWE Championship match ended with no particular winner as Kingston attacked Orton after the latter taunted his family.

This is lazy booking by WWE and the crowd showed their disapproval of the ending. Since there was clearly no winner, this tells us that the feud will continue and we could possibly see Kingston defend his WWE Championship against Orton once again at Clash of Champions.

#2 Seth Rollins is the guy to lead Monday Night Raw in the Paul Heyman-Eric Bischoff Era

Seth Rollins solidified himself as The Beastslayer when he defied all odds and cleanly pinned Brock Lesnar to regain the Universal Championship. Rollins wasn't a hundred percent going into the match after he was brutalized by Lesnar on Raw two weeks in a row. That, however, didn't stop Rollins from chasing his title and entering the ring with The Beast. He did what other Superstars like The Undertaker couldn't do by defeating The Beast Incarnate 1-2-3 in the ring...and he did it twice.

Their match was easily the best match of the night, even better than their WrestleMania clash. Even though Rollins' first reign as Universal Champion was underwhelming, WWE might come up with a plan and book him better with more worthy opponents. Since Paul Heyman is running Raw and he allowed his client to be defeated by Rollins, this only tells us that Seth is the guy chosen to lead Monday Night Raw in the Paul Heyman-Eric Bischoff era.

#1 Bray Wyatt's Fiend will play a big part in WWE

Fans have been eagerly waiting to see "The Fiend" Bray Wyatt in action, and WWE did not disappoint us. The Fiend made his eerie entrance to the ring and laid out Finn Balor in a few minutes. Wyatt is scarier than ever and there are bigger things to come.

The character has been popular with fans since its inception and with what we saw last night at SummerSlam, The Fiend will play a big part in WWE and with The Undertaker possibly set to retire soon, Bray Wyatt will officially become the scariest entity in WWE.

We could see him feud with other Superstars on the roster like The Miz, Aleister Black, etc. The Fiend is the biggest thing in WWE right now and the company must not ruin what could turn about to be something big.
