Randy Orton could become the most decorated current WWE star at SummerSlam

SummerSlam 2020 is less than a week away and the card for the show is already looking stacked. With Dominik Mysterio set to make his in-ring debut in a match against The Monday Night Messiah Seth Rollins and Randy Orton challenging Drew McIntyre for the WWE Championship in two of the headline matches.

There is also the Universal Championship showdown between The Fiend and Braun Strowman whilst Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville will settle their differences in a hair vs hair match and Asuka challenges both Sasha Banks and Bayley in separate matches for both the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championships.

SummerSlam will also be the first live WWE pay-per-view in almost six months, which could be the beginning of a new normal as WWE make themselves comfortable in the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

#5 Randy Orton could become the most decorated current WWE star at SummerSlam

Randy Orton takes on Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam on Sunday night with the WWE Championship on the line, and it's a title that Randy Orton has become comfortable with over the years.

Orton is currently a 13 time World Champion and if he's able to dethrone McIntyre on Sunday night he will become a 14 time Champion. The Viper would equal Triple H's record at 14 times, and be just two reigns behind John Cena and Ric Flair who hold the record as 16-time World Champions.

At present, Triple H, John Cena, and Ric Flair are not considered to be active performers which would mean that if Orton wins the WWE Championship at SummerSlam then he will become the most decorated current WWE star.

Interestingly, Randy Orton won his first World Championship at SummerSlam 16 years ago when he was able to overcome the threat of Chris Benoit, this made him the youngest World Champion in history at just 24.

#4 SummerSlam will be live and outside of the Performance Center

The COVID-19 pandemic forced WWE to make the Performance Center their new home back in March. The company has since been forced to remain there for every pay-per-view except Money in the Bank where a portion of the show was filmed at WWE HQ in Connecticut, this could be about to change at SummerSlam.

Every show since March has also been pre-recorded and the company has worked on a schedule to allow them to film in blocks. This will all change from Friday when the company makes the Amway Center their home and are then able to present their shows live once again including SummerSlam on Sunday night.

Whilst there are no fans allowed into the arena between now and October since the company has signed a deal that agrees to this, there could be room for change in a few month's time when the deal is renewed.

This could be the new normal for WWE in the coming months and now allows the company to move forward without worrying about their results being leaked ahead of time.

#3 Asuka will make history at SummerSlam

Whilst Becky Lynch pulled double duty at last year's Money in the Bank since she was forced to defend both the SmackDown and RAW Women's Championships, this was whilst The Man was the Champion.

No other female wrestler has been given the opportunity to challenge for two Championships on the same night without being the woman holding the titles. This weekend at SummerSlam, Asuka will challenge both Sasha Banks and Bayley in separate matches for the RAW and SmackDown Women's Championships.

Asuka has earned her shot at both of the titles and actually lost the RAW Women's Championship to The Boss a few weeks ago. The Empress is out for revenge at SummerSlam after Banks and Bayley forced Kairi Sane onto the sidelines following their attack a few weeks ago.

Banks and Bayley are also the Women's Tag Team Champions and there are rumors that the two women could be forced to defend these titles against the team of Shayna Baszler and Asuka the week after SummerSlam at Payback.

If these rumors are true, it could be Asuka three belts by the end of the month.

#2 First female hair vs hair match in 16 years

There is no WWE storyline at present that is as deeply personal as the feud between former friends Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville. The two women have been at odds since the weeks leading up to WrestleMania and their issues could finally come to a head this weekend at SummerSlam.

Rose and Deville will face off in a hair vs hair match at SummerSlam that will see the loser be forced to shave their head bald. The last time this stipulation was added to a women's match was back at WrestleMania 20 more than 16 years ago when Molly Holly took on Victoria.

Holly was so set on wrestling at WrestleMania that she forced WWE to add the stipulation and after losing to the former Women's Champion, Holly had her hair shaved on live TV.

Deville has already attempted to cut Rose's hair off and the former Tough Enough star is now sporting much shorter locks because of the backstage attack. Could Deville finally meet her match when she goes up against her former friend on Sunday night at SummerSlam?

#1 Dominik Mysterio debuts 18 years after his father

It's surprising the way that the world works out. Dominik Mysterio will make his WWE in-ring debut this weekend at SummerSlam, as he takes on Seth Rollins in what is now a deeply personal feud.

Interestingly, Dominik debuts at SummerSlam, 18 years after his father Rey Mysterio made his pay-per-view debut at The Biggest Party of the Summer in 2002.

Mysterio will be in his 24-year-old son's corner this weekend after Rollins cost the former World Champion his eye when he took on the Monday Night Messiah in an Eye vs Eye match at Extreme Rules.

Dominik wanted revenge for his father and after signing his official WWE contract he was ambushed by Murphy and Rollins and struck 30 times with a kendo stick, which left him battered and bruised.

18 years ago at SummerSlam, Rey Mysterio tapped out to Kurt Angle when he locked in the Ankle Lock, will the result be the same this weekend when Dominik goes looking for some revenge for his father?
