WWE SummerSlam: 3 Things WWE subtly told us through The Fiend vs. Finn Balor

What an entrance that was!
What an entrance that was!

Summerslam 2019 saw the creature we know by the name of The Fiend finally make his in-ring debut to take on Finn Balor. Soon after WrestleMania finished, Bray Wyatt made his return to WWE in a completely new avatar.

What initially was portrayed as a friendly talk-show host gimmick was soon revealed to have many demented sides to it as Bray Wyatt showed us his hidden secret - The Fiend. After weeks and weeks of buildup through the Firefly Fun House and the puppets, The Fiend finally attacked Finn Balor on RAW a few weeks ago.

Soon after, the Extraordinary Man challenged this new Bray Wyatt to a match at SummerSlam, which was accepted by the Fiend. Tonight on RAW, we saw this mysterious creature wrestle for the first time as he took out the former Universal Champion with ease.

Everything about the segment and the match was amazing. Right from the beginning, the tweaked entrance of Bray Wyatt using a creepier version of his old theme song, and a scary-looking trademark lamp of the Eater of the Worlds, everything was spot on. It's great to see WWE not leaving behind the elements of the Bray Wyatt character, but building The Fiend on top of it.

In this article, let's take a look at the three things that WWE secretly told us through The Fiend vs Finn Balor at SummerSlam tonight. Feel free to share your thoughts and views in the comments section below.

#3 The Mandible Claw is officially his new finisher

When The Fiend first appeared on RAW to attack Finn Balor, he used the usual Sister Abigail finisher on him, making fans think that Wyatt would still use the same move as his finisher. But the next two weeks saw him take out two Hall of Famers, Mick Foley, and Kurt Angle with a new move - the Mandible Claw.

This raised doubts about whether this would be his new finisher going forward. WWE made it clear at SummerSlam that the deadly Mandible Claw is indeed his official new finisher as he finished off Balor with the same.

At the same time, Wyatt teased hitting Sister Abigail as well, meaning that he might use both of them in his future matches. What are your thoughts on his new finisher?

#2 The Fiend vs. Finn Balor is not over

As soon as Balor walked out to SummerSlam as his normal self, Corey Graves was quick to comment that Balor should have adopted his dark side to help him face The Fiend. If you did not understand the reference, he was talking about the Demon King persona of Finn Balor.

It was a good call from Vince and company to not let Balor compete as the Demon King, as there was no way The Fiend was losing his first match to anyone. Just to remind you, the Demon King is still undefeated on the main roster and one of the biggest attractions for the company.

Many were expecting Wyatt to take out Balor with some injury angle to keep him away from the action as he has been given some time off after SummerSlam. But that did not happen as Balor was not "destroyed" to the extent that many were expecting him to be.

The signs are pointing towards a bigger rematch between the two at a bigger stage, possibly WrestleMania, with Finn bringing out his inner Demon to fight the one of Bray. Who do you think would come out victorious in the battle of the Demon King and The Fiend?

#1 He might take on The Undertaker soon

One of the major subtle teases that you might have missed in this segment was how The Fiend did something very similar to the Dead Man after the match was over. The Undertaker is known to walk up to the ramp after the conclusion of his match and then turn around and look at his opponent. Interestingly, Wyatt did the same tonight.

Earlier, the commentators compared him with The Undertaker in their ability to intimidate their opponents. During his previous gimmick as the leader of the Wyatt Family, many comparisons were drawn between him and the Phenom. That led to a match between the two at WrestleMania 31, which Wyatt was not able to win.

In Bray's own words - "The Fiend does not forgive" and "No one is safe!". The signs are pointing towards another feud with The Undertaker, this time The Fiend taking charge of the proceedings. In one of my previous articles, I've mentioned the reasons why The Fiend should be the one to retire the Undertaker. That would indeed be a proper passing the torch moments from the Prince of the Darkness to the new Face of Fear.
