WWE Super ShowDown 2019: 5 Points to Note

WWE Super ShowDown has come and gone and fans and critics weren't shy to let the world know what they thought of the PPV. WWE went big for this event, giving us a dream match that we thought we would never see between two legends, Goldberg and The Undertaker.

Nobody was expecting these two Superstars to put on a flawless match and with them having a combined age of 106 years. Plus, the extremely hot temperature in the stadium that night, things didn't go very well for the two wrestlers.

It was painful watching these two men together in the ring and one can't really blame them for what went down.

Sure, there were career threatening botches, but these two did try to put on the best match they could but it just didn't come out the way they wanted it to.

WWE's preceding event in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Crown Jewel, received generally negative reviews from fans and critics, and this year's event continued that trend. Remember, WWE has a 10-year deal with Saudi Arabia, so this was just the third event under their agreement and there is still plenty of more to come.

A lot went down at the event, such as The Beast Incarnate, Brock Lesnar, failing to cash in his Money in the Bank contract, Roman Reigns losing to Shane McMahon and Mansoor winning the largest battle royal in WWE.

With that being said, here are five points to note from WWE Super ShowDown.

#5 Brock Lesnar failed to be A meaningful MITB contract holder

Brock Lesnar shocked the world at the Money in the Bank PPV when he made a surprise appearance and won the contract by retrieving the briefcase.

Fans were not happy with this at first because they didn't want to see Lesnar as Universal Champion again. When The Beast became the Beast in the Box, it made him fun to watch for a while as Lesnar dancing in a WWE ring is truly a remarkable sight.

However, with the company telling fans that Lesnar is going to cash in his contract only for him to change his mind later, it didn't help anyone and the mind games were not working with the WWE Universe.

Lesnar had plenty of chances to cash in his contract on either Rollins or Kofi Kingston, but instead, he chose to fly thousands of miles away to Saudi Arabia only to suffer a failed cash in attempt.

R-Truth has made the 24/7 title mean something compared to Brock Lesnar as Mr. Money in the Bank, who is carrying something he doesn't need.

#4 Mansoor Is Being Set For A Big Push

Mansoor signed with WWE following the 2018 Greatest Royal Rumble event, which was also held in his hometown of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

He has appeared on NXT and NXT UK and after winning the largest battle royal in WWE history, there is no doubt that there is a big push planned for the rookie.

With the company's ten- year deal with Saudi, Mansoor could be one of WWE's next big star and that was evident with the crowd's reaction after he won the battle royal.

A lot of fans already knew that Mansoor was going to win the battle royal, as the NXT star was rumored to be the winner and this isn't the first time that a Superstar won a big match in their county of birth.

At last year's WWE Super ShowDown, Buddy Murphy won the Cruiserweight Championship in Australia where he was born and so did the IIconics, who won their tag team match at the event and went on to receive a big push when they won the Women's Tag Team titles at WrestleMania 35.

#3 Shane McMahon Will Continue Feuding With Roman Reigns

The self-proclaimed "Best in the World" Shane McMahon shockingly defeated The Big Dog, Roman Reigns, and unfortunately for fans, these two could carry on feuding. The SmackDown commissioner could play a big part in Reigns' match at the Stomping Grounds PPV against Drew McIntyre.

This feud is centered around the fact that Roman Reigns delivered a Superman punch to Vince McMahon, Shane's father, who is hypocritically disgusted that someone put his hands on another man's father.

No one seems to be paying attention this feud and it isn't benefiting anyone. Instead, it's just wasting airtime and the Superstars who are involved in it.

#2 No Tag Team Championships Were Defended

It is now safe to say that the tag team division in WWE is dead. WWE has some of the greatest tag teams in the world but they are not being used properly. The current RAW Tag Team Champions Zack Ryder and Curtis Hawkins are currently in a lackluster reign as champions and they have been missing on RAW for almost a month.

The Revival, who were a very successful team on NXT, are now being made to do comical stuff and are involved in a feud with The Usos, who also seem to be lost in the shuffle.

I could go on all day, but the main thing here is that no Tag Team Champiohsips were defended at WWE Super ShowDown and it was shocking to see that WWE waisted a golden opportunity to showcase the tag-team division on a grand stage.

#1 The Main Event Was A Forgetful Botchfest

The main event match between The Undertaker and Goldberg could arguably be one of the most lacklustre matches these two have ever put on in their entire career.

The match was filled with botches that almost led to life-threatening injuries for the two when 'Taker botched a Tombstone Piledriver, causing Goldberg to land directly on his head and Goldberg failed to execute a Jackhammer, which could have seriously injured The Deadman.

The match expectedly received negative reviews from fans and critics, with the match being awarded 0.75 stars by Wade Keller of Pro Wrestling Torch.

The Undertaker's facial expression after the match said it all (You can check it out here). These two Superstars have nothing left to prove in the ring.

They have done a lot for WWE and Goldberg is already inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. WWE must let them retire for everyone's sake.
