WWE Survivor Series 2019: 5 Biggest unanswered questions heading into the PPV

What can fans expect at this years Survivor Series?
What can fans expect at this years Survivor Series?

Survivor Series is less than two weeks away and the buzz surrounding the upcoming PPV has only added to the excitement. In fact, between the dream matches that WWE is setting up for the show and the storyline implications at stake as well, this could turn out to be one of the best Pay-Per-Views of the year.

WWE also has the idea of brand supremacy adding an exciting dimension to Survivor Series, that seems to suggest that a lot of emphasis has been given to promoting NXT. If nothing else, WWE has a lot going on with this PPV, especially with the addition of Black and Gold Brand to the festivities, which has evoked a lot of questions from the WWE Universe.

With that being said and Survivor Series right around the corner, here are the five biggest unanswered questions heading into the PPV.

As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments section below!

#5 Who's side is Finn Balor on?

Who's side is Finn Balor on?
Who's side is Finn Balor on?

Finn Balor came back to NXT earlier this Fall and while he made it clear that he is gunning for the NXT Title, he hasn't defined his loyalties. In fact, Balor cost Matt Riddle, Keith Lee and Tommaso Ciampa their win over The O.C. on a recent episode of NXT, which again begs the logic behind Balor's intentions.

Another thing that has caused fans to questions Balor's loyalty to the Black and Gold Brand is the fact that he wasn't in the ring during Triple H's war promo on Friday Night SmackDown. If nothing else, that, along with him costing NXT a win against The O.C. might be WWE's way of saying that Balor is out for himself.

Or maybe, Balor could also turn up to help either RAW or SmackDown from gaining an upper hand. Either way, it's going to be very interesting to watch what Balor does during the Survivor Series pay-per-view and how his actions ultimately affect the outcome of the show.

#4 Can NXT pull off an upset?

Raw versus SmackDown versus NXT. Who wins?
Raw versus SmackDown versus NXT. Who wins?

While 'brand supremacy' might just sound like a carefully crafted couple of buzzwords in order to solicit interest in one of the company's big four PPVs, it has taken on a whole new meaning with the addition of NXT to the mix.

Furthermore, with NXT just starting to find its footing on television and FOX Sports just beginning to air SmackDown, there is probably an all-time interest in who comes out of Survivor Series on top.

With that being said and NXT firing the first shots in the war of brand supremacy, one can only wonder if the Black and Gold brand is capable of pulling off an upset over RAW and SmackDown, or whether this will just be another case of WWE building them up as underdogs and then decimating them like they did with the Blue brand last year.

If nothing else, WWE needs to keep the score at Survivor Series as close as possible between the three brands and make sure to give fans the payoff they are looking for at the end of the PPV.

That's why the company needs to let NXT get the win at this year's edition of the PPV use that to help build the legitimacy of the brand.

#3 What role will The Fiend Bray Wyatt play at Survivor Series?

Where does The Fiend fit into all this?
Where does The Fiend fit into all this?

The Fiend won The Universal Title from Seth Rollins at Crown Jewel and while one would think that the title change would make him a pretty important Superstar heading into The Survivor Series pay per view, the company's plans for him are still unknown. A lot of fans were surprised that WWE didn't go ahead with the dream against Brock Lesnar, which was disappointing to see.

With that being said and Survivor Series coming up soon, the fans will have two questions in their mind. The first is why the company would take so long to book a feud for their Universal Champion and the second is what exactly those plans are going to be.

If nothing else, it looks like WWE is going to be very protective with what they do regarding The Fiend and might have some kind of mini-feud between him and Daniel Bryan planned. Or maybe WWE announces him and Bryan for Team SmackDown and that allows the two to go at it there.

#2 Does The Undertaker make an appearance?

What would Survivor Series be without The Undertaker?
What would Survivor Series be without The Undertaker?

This might seem like a little bit of a long shot, especially considering the age of The Deadman, but what if WWE brought back The Undertaker for this year's Survivor Series?

Interestingly enough, FitMan Sports group is claiming that The Undertaker will be in the Chicago area during the weekend of Survivor Series, which has lead to talk that he will fill some kind of role for WWE as well.

With all that in mind, The Undertaker making some kind of appearance at Survivor Series makes sense if you think of it in a logistical and promotional perspective. Maybe they could even use him in a one off segment against a heel Superstar and create another memorable moment in The Undertaker's legacy.

Either way, WWE hasn't done a lot to bring big names into the mix for this year's Survivor Series and would really benefit from some name recognition if possible. At least that way, the company has Superstars that can lose without looking weak and they can set up some pretty must see moments as well.

In the end, The Undertaker is the type of Superstar that can make an entire arena come unglued on demand, which is one of the many reasons why they need to incorporate him into the show somehow.

#1 Could Cain Valesquez interfere in Lesnar versus Mysterio?

What role will Cain Velasquez play at Survivor Series?
What role will Cain Velasquez play at Survivor Series?

That is the biggest question on The WWE Universe's mind after he lost to Brock Lesnar at Crown Jewel and one has to wonder when we will see him again. Furthermore, what kind of role will he ultimately play in the overall WWE landscape once he does finally return to television again?

While those questions are somewhat hard to answer, especially after his bewildering loss to Lesnar, it seems very likely that WWE plans to rehash the situation at The Survivor Series pay per view. In fact, between Lesnar versus Mysterio looking like a squash match on paper and Velasquez being close friends with The Luchador, it looks like the company plans to use the former UFC fighter in some capacity.

Why else would they do Mysterio versus Lesnar as the PPV if it wasn't building up to something? Sure, WWE could have their squash match and have Lesnar walk out with the title around his waist again, but what fun would that be? Beyond that, what point does it serve when it comes to the larger narrative?

In all honesty, this looks like WWE is using this match to catch fans off guard and then do something to create a Lesnar versus Velasquez rematch in the future.
