WWE Survivor Series 2019: 4 Botches and mistakes you missed as part of the show

Survivor Series this year made history by including NXT for the first time, but the developmental brand was at an obvious disadvantage since they competed in Chicago just hours ago inside War Games.

Despite this, there were a number of stars like Rhea Ripley, Undisputed Era, Candice LeRae, Io Shirai, Matt Riddle, Keith Lee, Kevin Owens, Bianca Belair and Shayna Baszler who all competed as part of both shows.

WWE's main roster knew exactly what they had to follow after the performance of NXT last night but whilst there were only a handful of mistakes on last night's show, Survivor Series included a number of shocking botches from some of the most surprising stars.

#4. Shawn Michaels reads the card in the wrong order

The first botch of the night saw Shawn Michaels join the kickoff show panel as he built up the match between all three brands as Raw, SmackDown and NXT's chosen five men would all go head to head in the traditional Survivor Series match.

Because of last night's War Games, NXT left it to the very last minute to announce their men's team and it fell to Michaels to make the official announcement. Michaels stated that Damien Priest and Matt Riddle were part of the show before the graphic came up showing NXT UK Champion Walter and Keith Lee. The last star to be announced for the match was Tommaso Ciampa, but by the time the names came out of the hat they were already shown on the screen and it appeared that Michaels had got some of his lines backward.

Charly Caruso later followed this error up by stating that NXT were the ones who picked up the first victory of the night before she was corrected by Jonathan Coachman who informed her that it was actually Bobby Roode and Dolph Ziggler from SmackDown who won the battle royal.

#3. The men's battle royal

The show that kicked off the night saw Raw, SmackDown and NXT teams go head to head in a battle royal to decide who would draw first blood. Interestingly, even though Raw and NXT only had three teams representing their brand, SmackDown was allowed to field four.

The OC, The Street Profits and Zack Ryder and Curt Hawkins represented Raw whilst The Lucha House Party, Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode, Heavy Machinery and The Revival represented SmackDown and The Forgotten Sons, Breezango and Imperium represented NXT.

The Lucha House Party's theme went on too long and Imperium ended up entering with their titantron still on the screen, and Montez Ford was then a human botch reel since he couldn't hit anything without some kind of issue.

One of the funniest botches in the match saw Otis deliver his caterpillar move but when he stopped to drop the elbow he actually fell over. The fast pace of the match meant that this wasn't as noticeable, but it was still a hilarious botch as the big man lost his footing and looked as though he just slipped at the wrong moment.

#2. When you put 15 women in one ring!

This year's Survivor Series kicked off with the women's traditional Survivor Series match, but unlike every other match at Survivor Series over the past few years, this one would include 15 women rather than ten.

Of course, when there are so many people in one ring there is a lot of room for error and this lead to a number of botches throughout. Dana Brooke was the first woman to botch her move when she managed to mistime a rollup before Sarah Logan followed suit.

There was some sloppy wrestling throughout the match where some of the shots between different teams didn't actually land, and Sasha Banks went on the botch a dropkick when the match came down to just The Boss and The Nightmare.

Considering the fact that the women's match is usually the one where the most errors are made, this match showed that much of the main roster have improved in recent months and they were able to hold their own.

It was a shock that Rhea Ripley and NXT came out on top on the night, but Ripley was the best worker in the match and deserved to pick up the win.

#1. The referee counts the three!

The men's Survivor Series match also threw 15 men in the ring at one time and much like the women's there were a number of issues with the number of stars in the match. The eliminations were thick and fast and once again it came down to two men, but interestingly the issues didn't come until the end of the match when there were only a few stars in the ring.

Seth Rollins took on Keith Lee and in an attempt to reverse his finisher he managed to fall over, before the referee actually counted the three when Roman Reigns pinned Keith Lee, but then waved it off as a three.

Lee was hit with two superman punches and the WWE Universe were convinced that Reigns picked up the win when the referee counted the pin but WWE played the replay from a different angle where it didn't show his hand hitting the mat but it could be heard.

What makes this more interesting is the fact that Reigns went on to win the match anyway, so why didn't the referee just call that as the finish?
