WWE TLC 2018: 5 Things That Must Happen to Make the Event a Success

Ambrose vs Rollins should steal the show

With the last pay-per-view of the year only a few hours away, many fans can’t wait for the matches and storylines to unfold at Tables, Ladders, and Chairs.

The announcement of Vince McMahon returning to Raw the night after the event to make some announcements or changes makes the event and even bigger deal, as fans would want to know why his presence has already been announced.

With that said, the first step is the event itself, and it should be a blockbuster event if WWE wants to build upon it on their road to Royal Rumble and then to WrestleMania.

Keeping that in mind, there are 5 things that must happen at the event to make it a success. What are they? Check out the list and share your own views and suggestions in the comments section below!

#5 The MMC Finals shouldn’t be a joke

The finals should be A-grade to ensure the continuity of the MMC
The finals should be A-grade to ensure the continuity of the MMC

Who would have thought that the Mixed Match Challenge final would be between the Fabulous Truth and Mahalicia?

Both teams consist of at least one former top champion, which says a lot at the end of the day. But considering that most of the other teams already have one of the participants in a match for the event, it probably made sense to have these two teams battle it out in the finals.

The entire MMC tournament has been more fun and games rather than hardcore battles, but the final should be a serious affair, as the stakes are high. Even though there is no harm in having these fun little matches, all four participants are currently mid-card or under-card wrestlers who have a lot to gain from a win.

R-Truth and Carmella should win the tournament, but even Jinder Mahal and Alicia Fox stand a good chance. Whoever wins, at least the battle must be good to ensure that there are no weak links in the entire event.

#4 Bray Wyatt makes his return

Wyatt should return before he's forgotten
Wyatt should return before he's forgotten

The Eater of Worlds Bray Wyatt has been away from television since Matt Hardy took time off from wrestling and the two men separated from their tag team.

We have only seen him compete once at WWE Starrcade when he answered Baron Corbin’s challenge since The Deleters of Worlds parted ways. This was probably a way to test out Wyatt and Corbin’s current chemistry in the ring ahead of Corbin’s clash against Braun Strowman at TLC.

On December 8, Wyatt wiped out his entire Twitter feed and sent out a single Tweet through his Twitter profile:

This could mean that Wyatt is ready to make his return to the ring, and we could see him as early as tonight on TLC. He could even be used as a replacement for the injured Braun Strowman in his match against Corbin or run interference in the match between Elias and Bobby Lashley.

#3 Lars destroys both men in a match

Lars needs to make an impact at the event
Lars needs to make an impact at the event

Lars Sullivan should definitely make his presence felt at TLC as he makes his transition to the main roster. He is expected to make appearances on both Raw and SmackDown before settling on one brand, and TLC will prove to be the foundation of his dominating run.

Since Lars is in line to receive a massive push, he should interfere in a match where he destroys both competitors involved and leaves them knocked out.

This will help build his story, and also inform the WWE Universe that he will indeed be the biggest force on the main roster going forward.

Lars can interfere in any of the men’s matches on the card if he will indeed be a part of the event. However, I’m hoping that match will be the WWE Championship match between AJ Styles and Daniel Bryan. This could spill over into a rivalry between Lars and AJ Styles heading into WrestleMania.

#2 Dean Ambrose becomes the Intercontinental Champion

Dean Ambrose should deliver at TLC
Dean Ambrose should deliver at TLC

We have seen numerous wrestlers turn heel this year, especially on Raw, but none have done it better than Dean Ambrose under the circumstances which were present when he did so.

One of the many reasons Ambrose turned heel was in pursuit of a championship, and now he has a chance to grab the most prized passion of his former Shield brother Seth Rollins.

To ensure that Ambrose remains a formidable heel going forward and becomes a top wrestler on the brand once again, WWE must ensure that he wins the title and puts Rollins through hell to make the storyline continue.

If Ambrose is unable to win the title at TLC, he would lose all the momentum and heat, which would prove to be disastrous and also defeat the entire point of turning him heel.

Therefore, Ambrose must win the title at TLC and continue his feud with Rollins even after winning the title.

#1 Asuka wins the SmackDown Women’s Championship

Asuka should snap like she did on SmackDown last week

Becky Lynch has been an extraordinary Champion in the modern era. This isn’t just because of her in-ring performances, but the character she has portrayed while holding the championship and ensuring that she stays in the eyes of the WWE Universe at all times.

She will be in the most dangerous match of her current reign. She’ll defend her title against two of the best workers on SmackDown Charlotte and Asuka.

While Lynch has a decent chance of retaining the title, Asuka should be pushed by the WWE, now more than ever if Charlotte is being shifted to RAW soon to have a rivalry with Ronda Rousey.

Asuka has been waiting for her big break for quite some time now and is one of two former NXT Women’s Champions who haven't won a main roster championship. Asuka must win the championship at TLC and get into an extended feud with Becky Lynch to carry SmackDown forward.
