Last night on RAW, Lana was able to do the unthinkable when she pinned one half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions Nia Jax, but this came at a hefty price since she was then attacked by both Jax and Shayna Baszler following the match.
The attack was later revealed to have caused Lana both elbow and leg injures which have since forced her out of her Women's Tag Team Championship match at TLC: Tables, Ladders, and Chairs on Sunday night.
This means that Asuka will be forced to find herself a new tag team partner for her Women's Tag Team Championship match at TLC this weekend. The RAW Women's Champion currently has several women who would be prepared to step up and help her because they have genuine issues with Jax and Baszler.
#5. WWE's Golden Goddess Mandy Rose
Mandy Rose returned to WWE TV last night after almost a month on the sidelines following an attack at the hands of Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler. Rose was taken out of Survivor Series following the attack which came after she suffered a legitimate injury in a confrontation with Nia Jax.
Rose returned to even the numbers game for her teammate Dana Brooke last night on Raw when The Women's Tag Team Champions were looking to attack Brooke.
Rose obviously wants revenge following the attack which cost her a place in the Women's Survivor Series team last month, and on last night's episode of RAW Talk, the former SmackDown star told Asuka that she was available if needed.
Rose could be one of the women that the RAW Women's Champion calls upon this weekend as she goes to battle with The WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.
#4. WWE star Dana Brooke
Dana Brooke may have her own issues with Reckoning at present, but last night the former NXT star was dragged into the storyline with the Women's Tag Team Champions once again when she went one-on-one with Shayna Baszler.
Brooke was actually able to pick up the win over one-half of the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions even though it was via disqualification when Nia Jax involved herself in the match.
Brooke was then saved by her returning partner Mandy Rose before Asuka then helped the two women to fight off the Champions, but this has now opened the door for Brooke to be part of the match as well.
The fact that the former NXT star now owns a victory over the Submission Magician means that she has a legitimate claim to be part of the match. Her partner Mandy Rose also has a claim since she has a history with the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions, but it still remains to be seen as to who the RAW Women's Champion will choose to be her partner on Sunday night.
#3. WWE star Lana returns
Lana potentially losing her spot at TLC is a hard pill for many WWE fans to swallow since Lana has worked so hard to be handed this match, after going through the table nine times and finally defeating Nia Jax.
Lana is a fighter and it's believable that she has been told that she can't compete by the doctors backstage, but The Ravishing Russian will get over as a babyface that little bit more by insisting that she wrestle through the pain.
This was the big picture that WWE has been pushing Lana towards for the best part of the last few months and now she's been taken out of the match it's unclear what the storyline was aiming towards. Asuka wouldn't even be challenging for the WWE Women's Tag Team Championships without Lana, so for The Empress of Tomorrow to go ahead with the match with another partner doesn't feel right.
There has to be some kind of swerve set to happen at TLC so that Lana is still part of the match, even if she's only at ringside and helps the team to pick up the victory, just to continue her feud with Jax and Baszler.
#2. Former WWE Women's Champion Charlotte
Charlotte hasn't been seen on WWE TV since she was attacked by Nia Jax back in June and suffered a "broken collar bone." The Queen has since been sidelined with reports suggesting that she could be looking to make her return at the upcoming Royal Rumble match.
Of course, The Queen has good reason to return and to be part of a match against Nia Jax, since she was the woman who put her on the shelf, and if Charlotte's Instagram posts are anything to go by she looks as though she's prepared to make her return.
Asuka and Charlotte have been both enemies and friends over the years, but they could easily join forces to overcome the Women's Tag Team Champions and Charlotte could then lift her first tag team Championship to become a traditional grand slam Champion.
Give the storylines on WWE TV at present Charlotte would be a risky bet, but if The Queen is looking for any measure of revenge against Jax then she would definitely agree to the match. The fact that Lana has been taken out with a storyline injury means that WWE must have something much bigger planned for this weekend's show.
#1. Former WWE Women's Tag Team Champion Kairi Sane
Whilst it seems like a long shot that Kairi Sane would return to WWE just a few months after her exit, she is another superstar who has good reason to want to get even with the WWE Women's Tag Team Champions.
Sane is still part of WWE and is working for the company over in her native country, but Asuka is her former partner and following the match that Sane was part of at this pay-per-view last year, she may decide to clean the slate.
Sane would be a surprise and a definite swerve for the show since she was one of the most popular female wrestlers whilst she was working for WWE. Sane opted to leave WWE back in July but has since remained with WWE under a different contract.
The former Women's Tag Team Champion would be free to travel back to the United States to be part of this weekend's show if she was chosen as Asuka's partner and would definitely boost the duo's ability to overcome Baszler and Jax.
