Trick or Treat?
Trick or Treat?

Whether you are flooded with the wonderful memories of your childhood or you are currently making memories with your children, Halloween is a very festive time for wrestling fans. WWE has not failed us in adding to the spirit of the holiday. Halloween episodes always have a wide variety of light-hearted, Halloween antics for the entire family to enjoy.

Halloween and professional wrestling have a long history of working together as a tag team. Grown men dressed up as clowns, fiends, dead men, degenerates, etc... Professional wrestling is a ready-made partner for the holiday. That's why one of WCW's biggest events of the year was Halloween Havoc.

Sadly, it doesn't look like we'll be getting any spooky Halloween themed segments out of the company this year. So for those of us WWE fans who do enjoy the traditional WWE Halloween hijinks, let us take a trip down memory lane.

We are going to remember five moments WWE has brought joy to our hearts with pumpkin-smashing fun.

Warning: This article will not include any WCW Halloween Havoc matches.

#5 Slater and Rhyno vs. Gallows and Anderson

Two years ago, we saw a classic "All Hallows' Eve Trick or Street Fight" between the Club's Gallows and Anderson and former SmackDown Tag Champs Rhyno and Heath Slater.

Slater and Rhyno came out dressed as Santa and Mrs. Claus (blush and granny panties included) while Gallows and Anderson were dressed as Tex Ferguson and Chadd 2 Badd from the fictional Southpaw Regional Wrestling promotion.

Technically, Slater was "Santa Slater." Corey Graves had a hilarious line about the (not-so) technical wrestling action. Rhyno picked up a cream pie as Graves dryly called the action, stating, "Ladies and gentlemen, the Greco-Roman...pie to the face..."

The match involved the usual shenanigans such as bobbing for apples and candy corn colored kendo sticks. In the end, Anderson and Gallows got a little over-confident when Anderson attempted a second-rope jumping maneuver with a pumpkin over his head.

Mrs. Claus... I mean Rhyno caught him and put him through a table. Rhyno made the pin as Gallows (whom also had a pumpkin over his head) celebrated the loss. See, he thought the three count was in his favor but he had a giant pumpkin on his head. Classic.

#4 Rusev and Aiden English ruin the New Day's Halloween

October 31, 2017, the members of the New Day were joyously giving candy away in the backstage area, all dressed as former WWE superstars. Kofi Kingston was dressed up as Brother Love, Xavier Woods was Jimmy Hart, and Big E was Akeem the Dream.

Rusev and Aiden English eventually came in to spoil the fun, calling Halloween a dumb little holiday for dumb little children. Rusev then dumped out the candy and stomped on it as Aiden English sang "Rusev Day!" Big E was furious, "Did this sucka just pour out my candy?! Did this sucka just step on my candy?!"

Later on, Big E went toe-to-toe with Rusev, attempting to prevent the Bulgarian Brute from spoiling Halloween for everyone. Sadly, the New Day were unable to prevent the holiday from being overtaken by Rusev Day.

#3 Goldust and R-Truth visit a haunted house

In a fun little bit used to help set the tone for the night, Goldust and R-Truth explored a haunted house together. After bickering back and forth in comedic fashion, the scares were too much for the Golden Truth to handle. They ended up fleeing the premises, screaming as they flew past a line of patrons waiting to get in.

#2 Dean Ambrose, Cesaro, and Ryback vs. The Wyatt Family

On October 29th, 2015, Renee Young interviewed a certain Lunatic Fringe, who had answered a "Face the Fear" challenge from The Wyatt Family. Dean Ambrose claimed that he's willing to take on all of the Wyatts by himself.

At the end of the interview Bo Dallas popped up with a petite, kitten-like "boo!" Now known as "Boo Dallas" he spent the night trying to scare the WWE locker room.

Ambrose would soon find himself face-to-face in a humorous interlude with Cesaro, which lead to Ambrose finding his first partner. At the end of the conversation, "Boo" Dallas tried to scare Cesaro, to no avail.

Ambrose eventually found Ryback in his natural habitat, the gym. Ryback volunteered to step on the necks of the members of the Wyatt Family. Finally, Bo Dallas managed to scare a WWE Superstar. Too bad for him it was Mark Henry. His reward? A World's Strongest punch to the face.

The match was a lot of fun to watch. It’s fun to see the Wyatt Family in its heyday. It’s also interesting to see Braun Strowman in the beginning of his WWE run. The Swiss Superman's athleticism was on full display in this match. In the end, it wasn't enough to stop the monsters of the Wyatt Family, as their leader looked on from a rocking chair.

#1 Trick or Treat Street Fight: Miz vs. Ziggler

This match featured a ring decorated with jack-o-lanterns all along the apron and a bobbing for apples station near the end of the entrance ramp. Dolph Ziggler started the match with a candy corn-colored kendo stick. The Miz pulled out a toy lightsaber, which obviously doesn’t work out for him.

The match moved to the outside for a little bobbing for apples action. Miz got his head forcibly dunked into the water. The highlight of the match came when Ziggler stuck a pumpkin over Miz’s head and superkicked him in the pumpkin. The pumpkin exploded and Miz flew out of the ring

This match earned our number one spot on the list due to the combination of Halloween-themed entertainment and actual wrestling. This is one of the most entertaining Halloween segments you will see on WWE programming.

The match even involved a little progressive psychology. It starts fun and silly and eventually two competitors begin to get serious about earning the victory. Ziggler even suffered a leg injury that is used in a story after the match.
