WWE top five rumors of the week and analysis: November 22nd, 2016

The Rock apparently won’t wrestle at Mania

Survivor Series went by this Sunday night and Goldberg defeating Brock Lesnar was indeed the biggest talking point. To an extent, it overshadowed most of the other matches that went down at the pay-per-view. Now that the show is over and WWE is busy making up new storylines for the upcoming shows, the rumour mill also shifted in a similar manner.

The rumours surrounding Survivor Series cooled down considerably, as there were a different set of topics that were worth buzzing about. Joey Styles, who was all over the news last week also featured in the rumour mill this week. Chris Jericho also found his place in an interesting scenario and in this list, we are going to take a look at these and much more.

#5 Joey Styles to TNA

Unlikely turn?

It has been a rough past few weeks for Joey Styles. The Donald Trump joke cost him his job in EVOLVE, and a string of other companies decided to let him go as well. While Styles did make up for the mistake he made, he could not be heading back to the promotions that fired him, but he could head in a very unlikely direction: TNA.

Cage Side Seats notes that Styles could be heading to TNA early next year. It should be noted that Styles took a shot at TNA on Twitter, during their power struggle and TNA had blocked him as well. Styles, however, has deleted all of his tweets.

#4 Chris Jericho to have a title run

He deserves another title run

The Chris Jericho – Kevin Owens relationship is bound to transition into a full-blown feud and apparently, it could result in a WWE Universal title run for Jericho. Jericho is expected to wrap up his current spell soon and is also not planned for WrestleMania. Rumours suggest that Jericho could face Owens for WrestleMania.

Jericho is reportedly turning baby face for the event, and he is rumoured to win the WWE Universal Championship as well. The current spell of Jericho has been a solid one so far, and he is set to take another hiatus from WWE to tour with Fozzy.

#3 Dolph Ziggler to regain Intercontinental Title

Ziggler could regain the title

The reason Dolph Ziggler lost the title to The Miz before Survivor Series was that WWE wants the right heel – babyface dynamics for Survivor Series. The creative team assumed that a Miz vs. Sami Zayn match would be easier to book than a Zayn vs. Ziggler match and this resulted in the title change.

However, there is good news for Ziggler fans, as he could regain the Intercontinental Championship as early as TLC. WWE is planning to have yet another Ziggler vs. Miz showdown for the championship and this time as well, expect Ziggler to come out on top and go home with the championship.

As for Zayn, his championship aspirations will have to wait for the time being.

#2 Update on Rock’s WrestleMania appearance

Not Wrestling according to the rumors

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson recently appeared on an interview and said that he would appear at WrestleMania 33. Although he said the same in jest, it should be noted that Dwayne would indeed be appearing at the show. This, however, wouldn’t be for a feud or a match. Instead, it would be just another segment where he hypes up the crowd.

If WWE manages to bring in Ronda Rousey or Conor McGregor for the event, they could be paired up with Dwayne for the segment as well. The fact that he wouldn’t be wrestling at the event would be a huge setback for the fans, but it is understandable, considering the busy schedule that he has in the film industry.

#1 Roundup of the Goldberg situation

Third match could be in the build

Goldberg defeated Brock Lesnar at Survivor Series last night, and he did it a controversial fashion. Rumours began surfacing about why WWE allowed such a squash to take place and when Goldberg announced that he would appear for Royal Rumble, the same cooled down.

The latest development in the story suggests that we might get to see another Goldberg vs. Lesnar match at WrestleMania. With Goldberg announcing on Raw that he is going after the title through Royal Rumble, it is evident that WWE would’ve probably tied him up for WrestleMania as well.

If Brock Lesnar decides to cost Goldberg his Royal Rumble match, these two would have a good reason to fight at WrestleMania as well.
