There were a lot of questions about which match would be the main event of Night One of WrestleMania 37.

While it's known that the Universal Championship Triple Threat Match will headline Night Two, it was unclear which one would close the show on April 10th.

WWE has now confirmed the SmackDown Women's Championship match between Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair will serve as the main event for Night One of this year's WrestleMania.

The other contender for the spot, the WWE Championship match, will now serve as the opener for the show on April 10th.

It was a bold decision by WWE and the fans have raised a lot of questions as why the company took this route.

We will try to provide five reasons as to why WWE went ahead by putting the SmackDown Championship match in the main event of Night One of WrestleMania 37.

As always, let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

#5 WWE wanted the most explosive match to kick off WrestleMania 37

Last year at WrestleMania 36, both the Universal and WWE Title matches lasted for a combined time period of six minutes and 45 seconds. While the PPV itself was praised, the two World Title matches was a bit too short.

When looking at each match, it's not hard to see why WWE made the decision to make them short. Goldberg vs Braun Strowman was never going to be a long-drawn-out match, while the clash between Drew McIntyre and Brock Lesnar was likely better off being a short and explosive one.

While fans may logically have wanted to see both McIntyre and Lashley main event WrestleMania this year, the company may have wanted the most explosive match on the card to start Night 1.

While WrestleMania 36 with a coronation for Drew McIntyre, this year, we could see it happen once again at the beginning of the show.

Bobby Lashley didn't seem to have an issue with opening the show, and he will get to be the first of two men to see the live crowd on the main card.

It was over four years ago at No Mercy when WWE decided to use the World Championship Triple Threat Match (between AJ Styles, John Cena, and Dean Ambrose/Jon Moxley) to open the PPV rather than close it.

That was due to the National Election Debate, and while this is different, it isn't a bad choice to open the show at WrestleMania.

#4 To make history and normalize women Main eventing WrestleMania

Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks

This isn't the first time female superstars are closing the show at WrestleMania. It's the second, and as Sasha Banks pointed out, it will be the first WrestleMania main event which will have two African-American women involved in it.

It's a great piece of history to be a part of. It's interesting because Sasha Banks is nearly six years into her WWE main roster career, while Bianca Belair is hardly touching a year.

Both women seem to be in different stages of their careers, but it was perhaps WWE's best option for a Women's main event this year. Unfortunately, Asuka vs Rhea Ripley isn't as big and buildup to it has been less as well.

While it doesn't appear as though WWE will be doing two-night WrestleMania shows from 2022 onwards, it seems like a much better idea than a single event that spans over six hours on runtime.

This could be WWE's way of normalizing Women headlining WrestleMania going forward.

#3 The FOX deal and making SmackDown look bigger at WrestleMania

It's hard to think that before 2019, SmackDown was never the flagship show of WWE and at WrestleMania.

RAW was always presented as the "A" brand in the company, but the big-money FOX deal has changed that.

Slowly but surely, SmackDown transitioned into being a bigger show - in terms of viewership, money, as well as WWE's presentation of it. The blue brand is treated as a bigger deal and it has some of the bigger names on the roster as well.

This could be a token of appreciation to FOX Sports. Since the Universal Championship match from SmackDown is headlining Night Two, WWE would have wanted something similar for the first night as well.

As a result, there was only one actual match that made sense to main event WrestleMania other than the Universal Title bout.

There was a lot of dispute about which show was going to be the main event of Night One, but SmackDown wins this year.

#2 To create a new star at WrestleMania

While a WrestleMania main event isn't needed to create a new star, it certainly is the best opportunity to push a performer to the next level.

The whole idea behind the SmackDown Women's Title match at WrestleMania seems to be constructed around the potential coronation of Bianca Belair.

Belair is in the minority of superstars to win the Royal Rumble months after her debut. Brock Lesnar and Asuka are two notable names who won the Royal Rumble within less than a year from their main roster debut.

Bianca Belair is the big name that WWE wants to create this year, and it's essentially hitting two birds with one stone. WWE can have a history-making main event while also creating a mega star.

Now that the match is confirmed as the Night One headliner for WrestleMania 37, it seems more certain that Bianca Belair will get the babyface victory. WWE rarely ends WrestleMania with a heel standing tall - although it has happened before.

Bianca Belair might be one of the luckiest people in WWE in terms of the timing of her push.

#1 To set up a big return at WrestleMania

Ronda Rousey has been away from WWE for two years now

The 2018 Women's Royal Rumble was quietly turned into the main event of the PPV. While fans were surprised, it was a pleasant one, as WWE didn't make a big deal out of it.

It made sense since it was the first Women's Royal Rumble, but immediately after the match was over, it became clear why. The megastar Ronda Rousey finally made her WWE debut.

It kickstarted an incredible year-long run, and two years have passed, but Ronda Rousey still hasn't returned. She left in the best way possible, main eventing WrestleMania and putting over Becky Lynch in the process.

While Bianca Belair vs Ronda Rousey may not be the dream match that everybody has wanted, it could be a good one.

The Rowdy One has been absent for two years now, and what better way to re-introduce her than by having her return to confront Bianca Belair?

It would help elevate the EST Of WWE post-WrestleMania.
