A former WWE Superstar has expressed his desire to face Adam Copeland, formerly known as Edge, in a rematch in AEW. This match, if it takes place, will garner a lot of attention.

The star in question is none other than Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder. Cardona’s wish came true when he first revealed that it was his dream to face the current TNT Champion. He made his appearance out of nowhere on an episode of AEW Collision in March 2024 but ended up on the losing side.

The Indy God has now revealed that he wanted a round two. He was speaking on the Battleground podcast when he said:

“But man, that night, it was such a spur-of-the-moment deal, and that entrance, having that entrance kind of made these four years worth it in the sense that I never wanted to prove anybody wrong. I got goosebumps right now just talking about it because it was a dream match that I thought I would never get. The Cope Open was there. I accepted, and it was literally a dream come true. Once I got a taste of it, man, I would love a round two. Certainly would love a round two." [H/T Fightful]

What the future has in store for Cardona remains to be seen.

Former WWE Superstar Matt Cardona opened up after a pec injury

Matt Cardona, formerly known as Zack Ryder, recently suffered an injury to his pec and had to undergo surgery to treat the same. Due to the injury, The Indy God also missed out on all the in-ring action on the independent scene.

In an interview with Bill Pritchard, the former WWE Superstar revealed how the injury took place and what his immediate thoughts were following that.

“Obviously, there’s no good time to get injured in wrestling, I guess in any sport, but this is certainly not a good time. I was just hyping up, and I put out this video, four years since I’ve been released from WWE, all the things I’ve done, and then boom, same day, I knew my pec’s torn. But I wasn’t gonna say it that day. I let the video get a million or so views, and then I said, oh, by the way, tore my pec," Matt Cardona said. [H/T Fightful]

Cardona will hope to return to in-ring action soon following his injury to make sure that his probable rematch with Adam Copeland takes place somewhere down the line.
