7 active NBA players with over 20,000 career points

DeMar DeRozan made history a few days ago when he reached the 20,000-point mark in his illustrious NBA career.

DeRozan became the 50th player in the league to reach this milestone, joining a list of Hall of Famers.

The vast majority of the players on this list have already retired, but there are a few that are still active and fighting for the championship.

Here are seven active players with more than 20,000 points in the NBA:

#1 LeBron James - 37,237 points

LeBron James has played in the NBA for 20 straight years after making his debut in 2003. He is a four-time champion, multi-time All-Star and four-time MVP.

He remains one of the best players in the NBA and is chasing his fifth championship this season.

LeBron James has scored 37,237 points and is second on the all-time scoring list.

He trails only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who has posted 38,387 points. If James stays healthy, he should be able to surpass him this season.

#2 Kevin Durant - 25,786 points

Kevin Durant is second on this list with 25,786 points. An elite scorer and one of the best offensive players in league history, the Brooklyn Nets superstar is 19th on the all-time scoring list.

A two-time champion, Durant has a few good years left in the league, so he can surpass a few more legends and climb closer to the top 10.

#3 James Harden - 23,675 points

James Harden is 28th on the all-time scoring list with 23,675 career points. He could surpass quite a few retired legends if he continues to play at a high level for a few more seasons.

At the age of 33, he has two years left on his current contract with the Sixers.

#4 Russell Westbook - 23,378 points

Russell Westbrook is fourth on this list with 23,378 points, less than 300 behind James Harden. Like Harden, he has a chance of surpassing a few retired players if he stays in the NBA.

Westbrook is 33 years old and is still chasing his first championship. His contract with the LA Lakers expires this summer and he is expected to become a free agent.

#5 Chris Paul - 21,007 points

Chris Paul will go down in history as one of the best point guards of all time. An elite passer and scorer, he is 38th on the all-time scoring list and fifth on the active list with 21,007 points.

He has never won a championship and will hope to do so before his contract with the Phoenix Suns expires in 2025.

#6 Stephen Curry - 20,304 points

Stephen Curry has revolutionized the game of basketball and has dominated the NBA over the past eight years.

Since 2014, he has appeared in six NBA Finals (2015-2019, 2022) with the Golden State Warriors and has claimed the championship four times (2015, 2017, 2018, 2022).

With 20,304 points, he is sixth on this list and 47th on the all-time scoring leaderboard.

Given his impressive scoring averages over the years, he is expected to reach the top 40 by the end of the 2022-23 season.

#7 DeMar DeRozan - 20,079 points

DeMar DeRozan became the latest active NBA player to reach the 20,000 mark in scoring. He is also 48th on the all-time list with 20,079 points.

He is currently chasing Curry and Paul and is also expected to reach the top 40 by the end of his career. Despite playing at an elite level for several seasons, DeRozan is still chasing his first championship.
