Damian Lillard's Parents

As per his USA basketball bio, Damian Lillard’s parents are Houston Lillard Sr. and Gina Johnson. According to Damian's Team USA bio, he has a brother named Houston who played football at the junior college level at Laney College and a sister named LaNae. Houston was awarded a football scholarship to Southeast Missouri State. However, no further professional information is available about Houston and Gina.

According to Andsape, Damian talked to his father after coach Randy Rahe (former Weber State men’s basketball coach) made a direct recruiting pitch to Lillard, which pleased both Lillard and his father, Houston Lillard Sr. In an interview with Andscape, Lillard said, “My pops told me, ‘They are real people. But don’t make a decision for me or anyone else. You have to live with the decision and don’t feel like you have to make anyone happy with the decision'". “I said, ‘I think I want to do it.’ He said, ‘Well, tell [Rahe] you want to do it. We’re not going to be going back on our word. So, if you say you want to do it, let’s do it.’ So, I went back inside, and I committed to him.”

Andsape further claims that during Lillard's junior year, his mother became more and more upset over her employment back home and the unfavorable treatment she was receiving from one manager. After NBA scouts started attending his practices and games on a regular basis, Lillard assured his mother that something was about to change for her. Following the draft, Lillard unexpectedly showed up at his mother's workplace, told her she could resign in front of her coworkers, and promptly put her things in boxes since he intended to look after her.
