“People have taken for granted what that age means in the NBA” - Draymond Green equates LeBron James to Steph Curry as he reaches 35

Golden State Warriors superstar point guard Steph Curry has shown no signs of slowing down in his 14th season. Even at age 35, Curry remains one of the NBA’s premier faces. However, according to his teammate Draymond Green, people are taking for granted just how well the star point guard is playing for his age.

Green said this was due to 38-year-old LA Lakers star forward LeBron James’ elite level of play since turning 35:

“It’s incredible. Because of what LeBron has done after 35, people have taken for granted what that age means in the NBA,” Green said of Curry in a recent interview with Andscape.

“Especially, a guard (Curry’s) size. You’ve seen players a little bigger go longer, but not at his size. I think it is so special and impressive what he is doing.

“The attention to detail to what he is doing on a daily basis puts him in position to be as great as it is. It is the most incredible thing to me. To just watch him at that size, dominate at this age, we’ve never seen anything like this,” Green continued.

Steph Curry is averaging 29.6 points, 6.3 rebounds, 6.3 assists, 1.0 steals and 5.0 3-pointers per game on 49.7% shooting through 43 games. His 29.6 ppg marks the third-highest scoring average of his career.

As for how long Steph Curry plans to play, he said his target used to be 16 seasons like his father, Dell Curry:

“My real but fake goal was reaching my dad, who played 16 years in the league,” Curry said in a recent interview with Andscape.

However, Curry added that it will depend on how his body feels. He also hinted that advancements in sports science have made it possible for players to extend their careers longer than in previous generations:

" Times have changed in terms of what your prime is,” Curry said.

Curry also mentioned NFL stars Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers as two athletes whom he has taken advice from on extending his career:

"I talked to Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers and other guys who have been on the other side of the halfway point,” Curry said.

“They’re 40 feeling like they can still play. I’m trying to stay in that mode. Thirty-five is a big milestone, but the next one is 40. The way I feel right now, who knows?” Curry continued.
