Five-star recruit Liam McNeeley has committed to UConn. He was previously set to join the Indiana Hoosiers but rescinded his commitment last month.

McNeeley's signing is an important move for the Huskies after Cam Spencer and Tristen Newton exhausted their college eligibility. Donovan Clingan, Alex Karaban and Stephon Castle have declared for the draft, while only Karaban maintains his college eligibility.

Huskies fans are excited about the new addition to the team and reacted on X (formerly Twitter). Liam McNeeley is already a great player, but under Dan Hurley, he is assured to expand his talents.

"This brother is gonna go crazy," a fan wrote.
"Ngl this is a amazing pickup," another fan said.
"Let’s gooooooooooo. A lot of upside with this UConn squad. Stewie, Liam, Brea??, Karaban ( pls come back)," one fan wrote.

A fan welcomed McNeeley to the team and wants Uconn to win the third title in a row.

"Welcome to the squad and let’s go!!! It’s three-peat time!!"
"Great move. Danny will make you better," a fan wrote.
"People are saying McNeely > Flagg," this fan commented.

Liam McNeeley believes that UConn is "a perfect fit"

The McDonald's All-American spoke to ESPN's Jonathan Givony, where he explained the reason behind this move.

"It felt like a perfect fit," McNeeley said. "Coach Hurley is a hard-nosed coach. That's the kind of coach I thrive under. The offensive system they run is perfect for my game. The culture of the team. The sets they run.
"They are going to help me get better on both sides of the ball. The whole coaching staff are good people."

Liam McNeeley played for the Montverde Academy, alongside fellow top-10 recruits Cooper Flagg and Derik Queen, in Florida. The team wrapped up a perfect 33-0 season and won the Chipotle High School Nationals. McNeeley was the school's third-leading scorer this season.

The 6-foot-7 small forward is one of the best perimeter shooters in the class, converting 45.0% of his 3-pointers. He was incredible at running off screens and pulling up off the dribble. McNeeley could easily attach the basket while finding open shots for his teammates.

Speaking of his goals at UConn, McNeeley said:

"My main goal is to win a national championship. UConn is on a roll right now. They've gone back-to-back, so there's no reason we can't contend for a three-peat."
"UConn has won without five-stars," McNeeley added. "They've developed their players and made it work no matter what. That's what I'm expecting next year."

McNeeley joins four-star recruits Ahmad Nowell and Isaiah Abraham for the new season at Storrs.
