Wyatt Simmons has put the college football fraternity into a frenzy. Up until two weeks ago, the teenager was just another high school footballer. A few weeks later and he has multiple offers from top programs across the country.

The defensive back from Arkansas recently dropped his highlight tape and his entire life seems to have changed since.

The 6’3, 215-pounder class of 2024 defenseman has been a revelation. Without having attended any camps, having no social media presence, and not even knowing the basics of the recruiting process, Wyatt Simmons has racked up more offers than anyone could have predicted.

The teenager from Searcy, Arkansas, has college coaches traveling to the Harding Academy as everyone is trying to obtain the young man’s signature. In his first-ever tweet, the DB attached his video and just put in some stats. Along with this, he just attached his coach’s contact. What a hectic few weeks it must have been for Coach Neil Evans, with every college coach blowing up his phone.

Coach Evans recalled how he aided the young boy in making the highlight reel. With Evans, Wyatt Simmons strung together a few of his clips from his season, and in a few days, he published the video.

"He published it over the weekend, probably doesn’t even know he published it," said Evans. "Just sent it out labeled "football." No name, no contact info. Super unassuming. So, there’s like a time-capsule element to this whole thing. He’s like recruiting somebody in the 1960s."

Wyatt Simmons is a name to remember

Shortly after, SMU led the charge in pursuit of Wyatt Simmons. Following SMU, teams from all over the country have been enquiring about him in herds.

In his first season as a linebacker, he had 84 tackles and 6 quarterback sacks. His coach claimed that Simmons played defensive end his freshman year and had a stint at wide receiver as well.

With the versatility he provides and his athletic instincts, coaches have been touting him as a top-five pick for the 2024 class overall. He’s late to the party, but what an entrance he has made.

Prior to this, Simmons had an offer to a local college, Harding University. This is where his father, Paul Simmons, is the head coach. Following over 20 FBS scholarship offers, Wyatt Simmons is likely to snub the D2 Bisons and take his game to the next level.

Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida State, Oklahoma, Stanford, Notre Dame, and Clemson are some of the many interested in him. While he makes his decision, Wyatt Simmons will be on top of the world for having posted that video on a random weekend, sitting in Searcy, Arkansas.
