Popular YouTube streamer Darren “IShowSpeed” has surprised fans by doing Cristiano Ronaldo’s iconic victory celebration, “Siuuu” in North Korea. The streamer, well known for pushing the boundaries when it comes to entertainment, reportedly entered the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) via the Korean DMZ.

The DMZ, or the Korean Demilitarized Zone, is a heavily guarded strip of land across the Korean Peninsula near the 38th parallel north. It is also a popular spot for people who want a taste of North Korea without entering the country.

"I’m in real North Korea!": IShowSpeed hops across the North Korea border at DMZ, accompanied by explosions

In the short clip posted on May 19, 2024, IShowSpeed excitedly points at the border of North Korea and says:

“This is a real f*cking border. When I step my foot on the other side, I’m in real North Korea!”

IShowSpeed then proceeds to hop across the border, shouting “Siuuu,” with the special effects of an explosion.

The Siuuu move is popular among fans of Ronaldo. It involves the goal scorer jumping and landing with a strong stance on the ground with both arms pointing down, shouting, "Siuuu''. The move has now escaped the realms of sport and is often imitated by CR7 fans, IShowSpeed being a major one.

The streamer has pulled similar shenanigans in many other parts of the world. However, given North Korea’s strict regulations, the DMZ may have been the most dubious location to pull off the move.

Just a few days before this clip, the streamer had revealed that the North Korean military had allegedly confiscated his streaming equipment and he was forbidden from streaming. Speed had cited that as the reason behind his lack of footage from the Kim Jong Un-ruled country. He also revealed that he had a picture with the police to prove his claim. In a livestream from South Korea, Speed said:

"No, chat, no cap. Chat, I got a picture, hold on... Chat, this the picture right here of the military officer...just him like restraining me just a bit."

North Korea is well known for its strict monitoring of all cyber activities, especially from tourists. Most apps, including YouTube, are currently inaccessible in the country.
