Stephan Jaeger surged into the top 10 at the 2023 PGA Championship. He currently sits seven strokes behind the leader Brooks Koepka but is looking forward to the tournament. However, the weather in Rochester was brutal all through the third round.

The first round was delayed due to frost early in the morning and then rain was observed on Saturday, May 20. The golfers were frustrated with the weather conditions but at the same time, they appreciated their caddies for helping them.

Players have to deal with a lot of tension and pressure during their game and luckily they have their caddies who not only take care of their bag but also motivate them to perform well in the game.

Stephan Jaeger praised his caddie for helping him throughout the PGA Championship, which is heading for the final round on Sunday, May 21.

In an interview with the media, Jaeger said:

"I would wipe my brim (of my hat) because I don't water dropping down when I'm putting. Immediately after you hit the shot you give it to your caddie under the umbrella, they put it in. They do most of the work, but especially with the driver you don't really want water on the club face because the ball could go anywhere.
"Any wood, honestly. It's a lot of effort. I think I'm going to feel it here in a little bit once I sit down and calm down. I think the adrenaline will wear off a little bit, and I'm going to be pretty tired. It's a lot of thinking, a lot of golf course out there with the rain. But super happy with what we dealt with today."

Golfers were aware that the weather won't be in their favor in Oak Hills this week and they unsurprisingly prepared for it. Stephan Jaeger went on to confess that he had seven towels in his bag to deal with harsh weather on the golf course.

He added:

"I think as long as the grips are dry and the club face is dry when you hit, that's pretty much all you can do. I think we had seven towels in the bag today. Seven. Just in case if one gets wet, you get a new one that's dry. I'm sure the bag weighed about 70 pounds today, which is not fun to carry around."

2023 PGA Championship weather update for the fourth round

After the chilly and wet round on Saturday, weather is expected to rebound for the final round with temperature to be around in the 70s in the afternoon. There is a low chance of rain on Sunday and winds will be blown from west to northwest.

After the third round of the PGA Championship Brooks Koepka took the lead and will head into the finals one stroke ahead of Viktor Hovland and Corey Conners.

Stephan Jaeger tied up in tenth place along with Eric Cole, Viktor Perez, Min Woo Lee, Shane Lowry, and Tommy Fleetwood. He will start the fourth round at 1:30 pm ET alongside Victor Perez.
