NHL Rewind: When Sidney Crosby scored his 1000th NHL point

Sidney Crosby achieved a milestone in his NHL career by scoring his 1,000th point on February 16, 2017.

Crosby became the 86th player in NHL history to reach 1,000 points (368 goals, 632 assists) after getting an assist on Chris Kunitz's goal during the first period of a game against the Winnipeg Jets.

Crosby achieved this milestone in his 757th regular-season game, becoming the 12th fastest player to do so, with Wayne Gretzky being the quickest in 424 games, followed by Mario Lemieux in 513 games. Crosby is also the third player to reach 1,000 points in that particular season, after Henrik Sedin and Alex Ovechkin.

In the same game, Crosby continued to add to his point total by getting an assist on Phil Kessel's goal, which tied the game in the third period. He then scored the game-winning goal in overtime, bringing his career total to 1,002 points.

After scoring his 998th point with an assist against the Calgary Flames on February 7, 2017, he went two consecutive games without scoring a point until scoring his 999th point with an assist in the game against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday.

Sidney Crosby was born on August 7, 1987, in Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia, Canada. He started playing hockey at a young age and soon became recognized as a talented player. In the 2005 NHL entry draft, he was chosen first overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins.
