On October 18, 2008, Sidney Crosby led the Pittsburgh Penguins to a 4-1 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, registering his 100th career NHL goal and 200th assist.

Playing on the line with Evgeni Malkin, Crosby scored his 100th career NHL goal and 200th assist, becoming the youngest player in NHL history to reach both milestones. He finished the game with a goal and three assists, bringing his career points total to 302 in just 219 games.

Sidney Crosby's first goal of the season came in the third period as he skated through the right circle and fired a backhander towards the slot, banking a shot off Toronto's Mikhail Grabovski, who was skating hard into the net. Maple Leaf defenseman Jonas Frogren dove to hit the puck to the boards and to the right of the net, but Crosby retrieved the puck and fired a backhander that found its way into the net.

Pittsburgh tied the game 51 seconds later when Pascal Dupuis took a rebound off Crosby's shot and scored his second goal in three games. It was Crosby's 200th assist, but his 300th point showed off his playmaking skills as he sent a pass between the legs of rookie defenseman Luke Schenn onto the tape of Miroslav Satan's stick, who redirected it into the net.

Sidney Crosby's final assist of the game came on Petr Sykora's goal, which closed out the scoring with 6:24 left to play. Sykora scored his first goal of the season by taking a cross-slot pass and one-timing the shot into an open net.

The Penguins won the game 4-1, improving their record to 3-2-1 on the season. It was a memorable night for Crosby, who added another impressive achievement to his already impressive resume.
