Vince McMahon specifically stopped WWE from doing one thing that is incredibly successful now, claims veteran

Vince McMahon had his quirks and pet peeves when he was still in charge with WWE. Wrestling veteran Jim Cornette recently claimed that McMahon stopped the company from doing something that is now successful.

On a recent episode of The Jim Cornette Experience, Cornette and Brian Last discussed WWE's recent success in holding international events. The former manager shared the reason why McMahon stopped the company from holding big shows overseas.

"One reason Vince didn't want to do pay-per-views, the big show, whether premium live event or whatever anywhere outside of the continental United States is because of the time zone difference. It would affect the buys and the buys were where all the money came in," Cornette said. [2:19 - 2:38]

Vince McMahon did change his stance on the international market with WWE's deal with Saudi Arabia. The company has been going there since 2018 and will host the King and Queen of the Ring Tournament premium live event in Jeddah this coming May 25.

International shows have been a big hit for WWE recently, with several upcoming PLEs outside the United States such as Clash at the Castle in Scotland, Money in the Bank in Canada and Bash in Berlin in Germany.

Triple H hinted at more international shows moving forward with TKO Group wanting to make the company global. The recent events at Elimination Chamber in Australia and Backlash in France showed that there's a huge market overseas, especially with cities paying WWE a lot of money.

WWE recently admitted that Vince McMahon facilitated the Saudi Arabia deal

Mark Shapiro, who is the president of Endeavor, the majority owner of TKO Group, assured shareholders about the good relationship between WWE and Saudi Arabia. Shapiro also acknowledged that Vince McMahon was the one who brokered the Saudi deal years ago, but Nick Khan has taken over and formed a new relationship with the Kingdom.

"I'll remind folks that those deals were primarily highly tied to Vince McMahon. There was a lot of speculation with Vince being gone, 'Would that impact the relationship in a negative way? Would they be looking to get out of it?' I would say that Nick Khan, in particular has developed, sustained, cultivated, and nurtured a very strong relationship in a handoff from Vince," Shapiro said. [H/T Fightful]

The relationship between WWE and Saudi Arabia was so good that they have a deal in place until 2027. The company even opened the WWE Experience theme park in Riyadh earlier this year.
