True story of Jonathan Reis shocks the Football World!

He represented PSV in their one sided win over Feyenoord by 10 – 0 in the Eredivisie 2010/11 – Dutch League. The striker Jonathan Reis scored a hat-trick in the game and has been highlighted as a new idol of the club from Eindhoven. Something that many Brazilians have managed in the past, namely Romario and Ronaldo.

The 21 years old footballer gave an interview to TV Globo, from Brazil, telling his story and involvement with drugs. “I was very alone. When something happened, I became a little nervous, so I struck out all through of drugs. I used cocaine and marijuana occasionally. I also used when I was in Brazil” he said. The drugs were introduced in Jonathan’s life through his friends on the streets of Contagem city, one of the most violent regions of the Minas Gerais state. Beyond the streets, inside his house, his father himself was a crack user.

In january this year, Jonathan delayed five days to restate to PSV and the Dutch club, and in their examinations displayed the presence of drugs in his body. He refused treatment at a clinic in Scotland and the club fired him.

Back in Brazil, a sad incident gave Jonathan a wake up call. Sitting in the square in his city, he saw a friend being shot and killed with six bullets in his side. Jonathan says “I don’t want that for me, I quit drugs”.After being hospitalized in a clinic for addicts in Brazil, the player has recovered and PSV rehired and gave him the shirt number 30 with his surname “Reis” that means “Kings” in Portuguese language.“I don’t want to do wrong again” promised the promising Brazilian striker.
