All India Football Federation on Friday released group classification of the teams and fixture for the 19th edition of Senior Women’s National Championship to be held in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh from April 25, 2011 to May 17, 2011.
Women’s team from all the twenty six states across the country will take part in the championship to prove their might. The twenty six teams have been divided into eight clusters. Defending Champions Manipur is clubbed in cluster 1 with Sikkim and Bihar while runners-up Orissa are in Cluster V alongside Madhya Pradesh and Mizoram.
The championship begins on April 25 and the preliminary qualification will ruoun will run till May 7. The quarter final will also be held in league format and played from May 8 to 13. Both the Semi-final will take place on May 15 and just after a one day rest the grand finale will be played on May 17.
A record fourteen times champion Manipur this time will face stiffer challenge from states like arch rival Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand who are developing well as a good football state. Orissa in fact won the women’s football in the 34th National Games in Jharkhand early this year.
