After nearly three weeks of intense action, in three different locations of the Country, I-League Div-II is nearing its end with just one match to go tomorrow. With Sikkim United and Southern Samity from group-A already making their way to the final round, Royal Wahingdoh and Vasco SC joins them from group-C.
Group B matches played out in Jamshedpur have Mohammedan Sporting already qualified for the final round, while the other qualifier will be determined only tomorrow after the match between Malabar United and Josco FC. Having already played six matches, Ar-Hima FC and Kenkre FC have 10 points each but Ar-HIma with better goal difference of +5 still has a chance of qualifying, depending on tomorrows result.
With Malabar United FC and Josco FC both on 7 points each at the moment, the clash tomorrow will eventually determine who progressed to the next round. To make it to the final round, Malabar United have to beat Josco by at least 3 goals to better Ar-Hima’s +5 while Josco FC has to beat Malabar by at least 6 goals.
While in group C, another North Eastern outfit from Meghalaya had a cent percent success, gathering 3 points for each of the six matches played and tops the group with 18 points. Following them at the second spot are the Goan outfits, Vasco FC at 15 points.
So the final round qualification to be held in Shillong within few months will see 8 teams in action of which the two best teams will be eligible to take part in the I-League 2011-12 season. Sikkim United, Southern Samity, Mohammedan Sporting, Royal Wahingdoh, Vasco FC and the second place team from group B will join last year relegated side Shillong Lajong FC and Sporting Club de Goa in the final round.
If Ar-Hima which has a good chance of qualifying, at all qualifies, the final round will then have 4 clubs from North East – United Sikkim, Royal Wahingdoh, Shillong Lajong and Ar-Hima. Two Clubs each from West Bengal and Goa will make up the eight teams.
