This is a short movie that has been produced by me for St Xavier’s College, Kolkata as a degree film. The film aims at critiquing the problems within the infrastructure of the so called “other” sports in our country.
All other Indian sports have always received step-fatherly treatment in comparison to cricket. The World Cup triumph in 1983 sort of ensured that the sport caught the national imagination and has till today stayed ingrained as the dominant sport.
The coverage given to other sports and other sportspersons pales in comparison to what the cricketers receive. Right from the disappointing living conditions to the benefits that they receive from playing the sport, other sports are well and truly neglected.
This film aims to capture that disparity on film.
