Deepika Kumari crowned as the most 'Precise Archer of the World'

Will she finally hit the Olympic bull’s-eye in August?

Deepika Kumari is perhaps the best archer India has ever produced along with Dola Banerjee. Her performances over the past few months are enough to indicate that the 21-year-old girl from Jharkhand will spearhead the Indian campaign in Rio Olympics 2016.

After her record-breaking performance in the recently-concluded Archery World Cup, Deepika was crowned as the most 'Precise Archer of the World'.

The Longines Prize for Precision is awarded to the archers who shoot the most 10s throughout the Archery World Cup season.

Last year it was the turn of compound athletes, Colombia's Sara Lopez and the Netherland's Mike Schloesser since they shot the most 10s in the competition.

For Deepika, this isn't really a surprise

The former World No. 1 archer shot 686 in the 72-arrow ranking round and equalled the feat of London Olympics gold-medallist Ki Bo Bae of Korea to set a new world record in Shanghai.

Later, she led the Indian women’s recurve team to clinch the silver medal against Chinese Taipei in the final and then teamed up with Atanu Das in the recurve mixed team where she clinched bronze.

The two-time Commonwealth Games gold medal winner has come a long way and won medals at every major tournament except the Olympics.

Will she finally hit the Olympic bull’s-eye in August? Only time will tell.
