Asian Archery Championships 2013: Indian archers impress in qualifying

The Indian archery team produced an excellent display yesterday in the qualifying round of the 18th Asian Archery Championship in Chinese Taipei.

This was in complete contrast to the disastrous showing at the Archery World Championships at Belek Antalya in Turkey a month ago.

The recurve qualification was held over two 70m rounds of 72 arrows, while the compound event was held over two 50m rounds of 72 arrows.

Barring Rahul Banerjee,, all the other archers made the cut in the individual category.

Compound: Qualifying rounds: Men’s individual: 3. Abhishek Verma (698); 4. Kh. Ratan Singh (697); 9. Sandeep Kumar (691); 13. Rajat Chauhan (685). Team: 1. India (2086).

Women: 1. P. Lily Chanu (691); 7. V. Jyothi Surekha (678); 10. Trisha Deb (676); 16. Jhano Hansdah (665). Mixed team: 1. India (Lily and Verma) 1389.
