State Athletics Association President thrashed by mob for alleged sexual harassment of minor athletes

Two minor athletes have accused the President of Madhya Pradhes Athletics Association of sexual harrasment

In an another incident shameful incident following the horrific gangrape of a judoka in Gurgaon, the president of the Madhya Pradesh Athletics Association, Mr. Amanat Khan was beaten up by a mob for alleged sexual harassment of the minor athletes. The incident happened outside the railway police station in the district of Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh.

The two minor state-level athletes, Anjali and Ritika, accused their head coach of sexual harassment and violence during a national level athletics meet in Vishakhapatnam. The incident happened when the two minors were travelling by train with their head coach when a local boy approached the girls to talk. The girls, however, are claiming that they asked the boy to stay away from them. This incident did not go down well with the head coach, who afterwards hit the two girls and tried to sexually harass them.

“He hit us and abused us”

A student of class 10, Anjali Rathore said, "At around 7pm in the train, one boy came close to us, I asked him to stay away. On seeing this, our coach came and said that we are talking to boys and hit us. He also tried to come close to us and used obscene language", NDTV reports.

Her companion Ritika Srivastava, a student of class 9 said, “We were on the opposite berth and were talking to each other. The coach thought we were talking to some boys in the train. He hit us and abused us.”

The girls informed about the incident to their families who in turn lodged a complaint with the Government Railway Police (GRP) station in Ratlam.

A group of angry protestors who were waiting for the coach to come back to Ratlam, thrashed the coach outside the police station and had to be rescued by the police. The officer-in-charge of the station, Raj Singh said, "The girls have complained that the coach hit them and tried to molest them in the train near Raipur."

The police have arrested four of the five accused, while one person is still on the run.

2nd shameful incident in the country in the short span of 2 days

It is the second shameful incident that took place in the country in a short span of two days, as a 15-year-old judo player who was en route to school in Gurgaon when she was abducted by 4 men and forced to consume sedative drugs and was subsequently gang raped by them.

The police have managed to apprehend one of the rapists, a BCA student who has confessed to the crime while the other three culprits are still at large.
