The race of a fantasy - Usain Bolt vs Mo Farah

Mo Farah vs Usain Bolt

Mo Farah‘s thought of racing Usain Bolt for a charity event brings back to mind images from the famous story ‘The hare and the Tortoise’.

But so it is going to be, after the world class sprinter recently accepted the valiant long distance runner’s invitation to hit the track against one another. What a treat that would be to watch! The thought of it itself is consuming – lightning vs the storm.

For a muscular Bolt to be running against the lean structured Mo would be like watching two extraordinary superpowers on the track, competing each other, so as to declare which one dominates – speed and power or resilience and stamina. Both of them would however, require a strong mind. And that shall demonstrate an exhibit of temperament.

As for the distance, the meters would be laid down by the fans and agreed upon by both runners. “(The) 600, for sure, I can try, because I’ve done 600 in training”, is what Bolt expressed. While it shall be rather interesting to watch and deduce Bolt’s strategy, and see how he adapts his energy to this distance, it shall also be a matter of curiosity to see how Mo reacts to the accelerating capabilities of Usain.

It should be remembered here how Mo did not get intimidated by the Ethiopians and Kenyans in both of his Olympic pursuits of 2012 – the 5000m and 10,000m.

The two have been seen close together within the comfort zones of each other, and no such rivalry exists between them. So, a good race on the track would prove to be a delight – to watch them take on each other’s ability, and carry the ego of their respective disciplines. It is sure that this would be as much of a ‘sprinters vs the long runners’ battle as it would be a ‘Mo vs Bolt’ showdown.

But most of all, the ones who will gain are the viewers. The media would be going all merry over the occasion, in the building anticipation towards that moment. And no doubt, the day will be recorded as the day that Mo and Bolt matched the pace of their heart and stride of their feet.

It was during the 2012 Olympics in London, Great Britain, that these two were seen indulging in handshakes, smiles, gestures and jokes as they also mimicked each other’s signature style.

One thing common among them is their ability to perform and win, apart from their friendship. And it shall be only great, and nothing short of it, to watch the two men in the same frame – only this time, competing against each other.

Irrespective of who wins, with the showmanship that accompanies the character and grit of these two athletes, you are sure to celebrate more than just the race – ‘Mobot’ and Usain’s notorious ‘To Di World’ amongst other similar tricks; make your pick.

So gear up folks, for it’s going to be a one-on-one and an awesome one too. To sum up the spirits for this one, it’s much like the words of Bolt: “For me, I’m up for anything if it’s possible.”

So until they take the track, ‘Imagine: the race of a fantasy’.
