Usain Bolt won his first race of the calendar year in Europe with a win at the Golden Spike meet in the 200m event. Bolt won the race easily with a time of 20.13 seconds. American, Isiah Young, took second place 0.22 seconds behind the time set by Bolt.

Even though Bolt improved on his season’s best of 20.20, he was not satisfied with his performance stating, “You can't be satisfied if I don't break 20 seconds.”

Bolt, 28, is preparing for the World Championships in Beijing in August. The six-time Olympic gold medallist said the wet conditions played a part in the high timing. “I just need to try to get myself into running shape,” said Bolt, who won the 100m, 200m and the sprint relay gold at the World Championships in 2013 that were held in Moscow.

"I really wanted to (break 20 seconds) but the conditions didn't allow. And I'm coming back from injuries, so it's going to take time. But it's all about working on my technique, getting back into shape and I'll see what happens in the next one."

Asafa Powell who clocked an impressive 9.84 seconds at the Jamaica International Invitational in Kingston earlier this month was unable to improve on the timing even though he did win the gold. Powell, 32, took the race with a time of 10.04 seconds with the nearest challenger Isiah Young being 0.11 seconds.
