India’s Ajay Jayaram put up an impressive performance to beat Viktor Axelson of Denmark 21-15 21-15 in the opening round of the Korea Open Superseries on Wednesday. The Indian raced away to a 7-0 early lead before Axelson got off the mark of the 8th point.
The early lead put so much pressure on the Dane that he was always going to find it hard to make any kind of comeback into the game and he eventually handed the Indian an opening game lead of 21-15.
The second game began on a lot more even note but after the 3-3 mark, The Indian started to dominate proceedings and eventually won the tie with the scoreline as the first game to progress through to the second round of the competition.
This victory should come as a shot in the arm for the Indian who was defeated by Axelson at the Japan Open Superseries last week and considering that he is the only Indian Men’s Singles hope left, he would be hoping to progress as far as he can in the competition.
