2015 Macau Open Grand Prix Gold: PV Sindhu through to her third straight final

PV Sindhu won a hard-fought semifinal

India’s PV Sindhu continued her juggernaut at the Macau Open Grand Prix Gold, defeating Akane Yamaguchi of Japan in the semifinals 21-8 15-21 21-16 to progress through to the final of the competition on Saturday.

The opening game saw the Indian totally dominate proceedings as he won a whopping 12 points straight to go from 5-3 up to 17-3 before closing out the game 21-8 to take all the momentum into the second game.

The second game saw the Indian take a 6-2 lead and then go 11-5 in front at the interval, but that is when the Yamaguchi fightback began as the Japanese began to claw her way back into the contest. She completed the fight back by winning 7 out of the 8 points from the 14-14 mark to seal the game 21-15 and take the match into a third and deciding game.

The decider saw the Indian assume control of the match, particularly from the 2-2 mark as she raced away to an 11-5 lead at the interval mark. Following the break, there were some anxious moments for the Indian but she managed to pull through the game 21-16 to move into her third consecutive Macau Open final.

She will face the winner of the other semifinal between He Bingjiao of China and Minatsu Mitani of Japan in the summit clash.
