Draws out for the Yonex Denmark Open Superseries

Saina Nehwal will lead the Indian challenge

Twelwe Indian players will take part in the Yonex Denmark Open 2013 tournament which will be held in the city of Odense from 15th October to 20th October. This USD 400,000 tournament is a Superseries Premier category tournament and is the fourth and second last Superseries Premier Tournament of the year.

Star Indian shuttler and Olympic Bronze medalist Saina Nehwal, who is currently the World No. 4 will take on the World ranked 58. Stefani Stoeva of Bulgaria in the first round of the Women’s singles. If Saina manages to reach till the quarterfinals, then she could well play the World No. 6 Ji Hyun Sung of South Korea.

Indian teenage Badminton sensation and 2013 World Championships Bronze medalist P.V Sindhu, who is currently the World No. 10 will play the World No. 17 Eriko Hirose of Japan in the opening round. Sindhu could well play the current World No. 2 and World Champion Intanon Ratchanok of Thailand in the quarterfinals. Another Indian shuttler Arundhati Pantawane had a tough task in the opening round as she will take on the World No. 1 Li Xuerui of China.

In men’s singles category, Parupalli Kashyap, who is currently the World No. 14 will take on the World No. 16 Darren Liew of Malaysia in the opener. If Kashyap gets past the Malaysian shuttler in the first round then he will take on the 5th seeded Jan O Jorgensen in the next round.

2013 Yonex Japan Open quarterfinalist Ajay Jayaram who is currently the World ranked 26 will play the World No. 8 Boonsak Ponsana of Thailand in the first round. Another Indian shuttler and World No. 24 R.M.V Gurusaidutt will take on the World No.11 Hu Yun of Hong Kong in the first round.

In men’s singles qualification round, four Indian shuttlers will be in action. Rising Indian badminton star and World No. 32 K. Srikanth will play the World No. 69 Christian Lind Thompsen of Denmark in the first qualification round. HS Prannoy, who jumped 14 spots from 56 to 42 in the latest BWF World Rankings will play the 3rd seeded player in the qualification Kento Momota of Japan in the first round.

4th seeded in the qualification and current World No. 43 Sourabh Verma will take on the World No. 63 Zulfadli Zulkiffli of Malaysia, whereas Anand Pawar will lock horns with the local Quach Flemming in the first qualification round. Only 4 out of the 16 players will qualify for the main draw of the Tournament.

In men’s doubles, World No. 55 Indian pair of Manu Attri and B. Sumeeth Reddy will take on the World No. 45 German pair of Michael Fuchs and Johannes Schoettler in the first round.

In women’s doubles the Indian pair of Jwala Gutta and Ashwini Ponnappa who are playing their first tournament as a team after the 2012 London Olympics will play the World No. 1 Chinese pair of Xiaoli Wang and Yu Yang in the first round.

In mixed doubles category, the World No. 33 Indian pair of Ashwini Ponappa and Tarun Kona will play the qualifiers in the opening round.
