Men’s singles:
In the men’s title clash, Korean smasher Wan Ho Son pummeled his Chinese Taipei opponent Hsuan Yi Hsueh 21-11, 21-15 in a 38 minute battle. Wan Ho Son dominated in both the games and found no difficulty in crushing his opponent.
Women’s singles:
The top-seeded Indian shuttler P.V. Sindhu brought cheers to the Indian fans by winning the women’s singles title on Sunday. P.V. Sindhu defeated the Canadian smasher Li Michelle comfortably by the score 21-15, 21-12 in a 37-minute encounter.
Sindhu dominated the first game completely and didn’t allow the opponent to level the score even once in the entire game. She won the game 21-15. The second game looked balanced till the score was equal with 6-6 on the board. But after that, it was Sindhu and Sindhu all the way. She rushed to complete her 21 points and won the game 21-12 to seal the women’s singles title.
Men’s doubles:
The Chinese Taipei pair of Sheng Mu Lee and Chia Hsin Tsai faced defeat against the Malaysian pair of Thein How Hoon and Wee Kiong Tan in the final match.
The Malaysian pair won the first game comfortably by the score of 21-16 while the second game of the match went to deuce. After a 19-19 score on the board, the Malaysians kept their cool and snatched the game by the score of 21-19 to register victory in the final.
Women’s doubles:
The Chinese duo of Yixin Bao and Jinhua Tang emerged as winners in the final battle of the women’s doubles category.
The pair defeated their compatriots Yu Xiaohan and Huang Yaqiong in a 48-minute match by the score of 21-17, 21-15.
Mixed doubles:
The final of the mixed-doubles category proved to be a neck-to-neck encounter between the two pairs. The Chinese pair of Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong was on the court to face the Korean challenge from the pair of Sol Kyu Choi and Yoo Jung Chae.
The Korean pair looked in great touch in the first game. After a level score of 5-5 on the board, the Koreans changed their gears and rushed to complete their 21 points before the Chinese. Sol and Yoo were successful in bagging the first game by 21-17 in their favour. The second game of the match proved to be a nail-biting thriller. The score was leveled on 10 occasions in the second game. After a score of 18-18, Lu and Huang dominated and snatched the second game by 21-18 to take the final title hunt to the third game.
After winning the second game, the hosts looked much more confident and spirited in the final game of the match. The third game proved to be a one-sided affair as the Chinese pair was agile enough to seal their 21 points and win the game by 21-17.
The Chinese pair of Lu Kai and Huang Yaqiong won the title with the score 17-21, 21-18, 21-17. The match lasted for 62 minutes.
